SPY), was enough to overwhelm inflows into many assets classes on Monday,
when the U.S. market marked modest gains ahead of earnings, according to
data compiled by IndexUniverse.com.
Investors yanked $922.5 million out of SPY, a big part of the $989.8 million
that flowed out of U.S. equities funds on Monday. Another $174.4 million
moved out of the Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSEArca: XLF), the No. 2
ETF on the IndexUniverse.com redemptions list yesterday.
Creations were led by iShares Russell 2000 ETF (NYSEArca: IWM) of small-cap
U.S. stocks, which were $239.1 million, or 2 percent of its overall assets.
The Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR (NYSEArca: XLP) added $158.0 million
, or 6% of its overall assets, and the leveraged Direxion Daily Financial
Bull 3X (NYSEArca: FAS) rounded out the top three ETFs on the creations list
, with $112.7 million, or 7 percent of its overall assets.
Total redemptions of U.S. ETFs were $682.6 million on Monday, bringing
assets in the 1,014 U.S. exchange-traded products to $802.1 billion,
including the market’s gains yesterday. The Dow Jones industrial average
rose 56.53, or 0.56 percent, to close at 10.154.43. | p*****0
