Note: The merger of MIR and RRI, approved by boards and shareholders of both
companies, is considered one of equals. The combined company will be called
GenOn Energy. Mirant holders will own roughly 54% of the firm and RRI
holders about 46%. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the
deal, but both companies are still waiting for an OK from the U.S.
Department of Justice. The merger is still expected to close by the end of
