Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citigroup Inc. (C) Unexpectedly Resigns

In what can only be described as shocking news, CEO, Vikram Pandit has
stepped down as CEO of Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) this morning. Vikram Pandit
also left as a member of the board. Michael Corbat, CEO of Citigroup’s
Europe, Middle East and Africa, has been elected as the new Chief Executive
Officer. Yesterday, Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C) announced better than expected
earnings. Pandit did not mention anything about leaving the company on the
conference call.
No one is sure if Pandit was forced to leave or resigned on his own volition
. Only two weeks ago, Pandit stated ‘”A CEO change isn’t imminent’, and
he told colleagues that he intended “he intends to stay for several years.
