Sharpen your shears and come on out for the 6th Annual Pruning Seminar and
Volunteer Day at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden - Saturday, January 12th
beginning at 9am.
Volunteers should bring work gloves, garden clippers, and wear long sleeve
shirts - Those thorns can getcha!
No experience necessary - this is your chance to LEARN FROM THE PROS!
IMPORTANT: Every volunteer will need to fill out a City form. DOWNLOAD it

If you got this far, we might as well talk about how we prune in "America's
Best Rose Garden". First, there will be stakes in the beds with florescent
paint that shows you where to cut the bush. Before you cut to that height,
you look for an "outward facing Bud-Eye" and cut 1/4" - 1/2" above it. If
you don't know what a "Bud-Eye" is, don't worry, we'll show you - or click
HERE for an in-depth description.
Once the bush is cut to the required height, all leaves should be stripped,
and the bed raked up. This one minute video below will show you how fast
