我网上查了一下,是不是fall armyworm?

大约8月底新铺的草坪,后院一大块,前院一小块.
前院的长的很好.后院的局部开始变黄,貌似有扩散趋势.图片为变黄部分.
二楼图片也是后院的,是好的部分.
应该不是缺水的问题.泥土挺湿润的.我在OREGON,气候也比较湿润.不下雨的话我两天浇
一次水.
泥土里发现有滑滑的,小指粗细的虫.不知道有没有关系.

Killer Plus Granules. Skip GrubEx.
Follow the label carefully. Needs a lot of water as the idea is to get the
ingredient to where the grubs are ASAP.
Your grass might green up in the future or it might still die and renovation
or overseeding or sod may be needed. |

early this night, I saw a lot of post 6 bugs. They are probably feeding. I
just checked again, they seems all gone....

发帖数: 837 | 17 You still need to decide which has caused more damage: grubs or armyworms.
For grubs, the grass should be easy to pull up and there should be a couple
of grubs per square feet under the root. For armyworms, use the soap method
described here:
http://www.zoology.wisc.edu/faculty/por/extras/smplthatchworms.
Also:
“Fall armyworm feeding damage is similar in appearance to that caused by
excessive fertilization or herbicide injury. The presence of armyworms can
be verified by parting the grass stems to the ground and looking for the
presence of worms, chewed leaves, or piles of small, greenish to brown
colored pellets (frass). These waste piles will be very noticeable in
heavily infested areas.”
If you want to treat grubs, use Dylox as mentioned before.
If you want to treat armyworms, for chemical control, use products with
carbaryl as the active ingredient like Sevin sold in HD (instant kill), and
for organic control, use products with bacillus thuringiensis (B.T.) as the
active ingredient like the following sold on Amazon (kill after a few days):

If you want to control both, I’d suggest apply Dylox first, heavy water it
in, and then wait for some hours until early evening, apply Sevin or B.T.
As usual, follow instructions on the label carefully.
Also note they claim that Dylox kills armyworm too, but that may not be as
effective as liquid sprays like Sevin or B.T. because you need to flood the
Dylox to underground first to kill grubs. If you just leave the granular
form of Dylox on the ground, I am not sure if the armyworm will be affected
because they may just keep eating the leaves without touching the Dylox.
Spraying on the grass leaves and/or directly on the armyworms is better.

买了Bayer Advanced 32 oz. Ready-To-Use Complete Insect Killer和Sevin 32 oz.
Ready to Spray Garden Insect Killer.
刚刚喷了bayer,打算明天喷sevin. |

same checking and treatment. Both Dylox and Sevin claim that they kill both
worms (although I think Sevin would be more effective).
One thing you can try tomorrow is to see how effective Dylox is for the
armyworms/cutworms since it claims it kills those too. You can still try
the soap method 24 hours after you have sprayed Dylox. If you don't see too
many armyworms/cutworms, it is possible that Dylox might have killed them
so you can save the Sevin, i.e. you put down as less chemicals as possible.
Hope your lawn will turn up green in the future, when you should add more
organic matter after this chemical treatment to improve the health of your
lawn:
- mulch grass clippings into the lawn if possible
- mulch leaves into the lawn if possible
- from time to time spread a thin layer of compost using rakes (so the
compost get hidden by the grass instead of the other way around)
- try organic fertilizers like Milorganite if possible
P.S. Actually the Bayer one you bought doesn't contain Dylox (the Bayer
Advanced 10 lb. 24-Hour Grub Killer Plus Granules does). I don't know how
effective it is though (active ingredients: imidacloprid + b-cyfluthrin).
Note I am not saying it isn't effective, just that I don't know. You can
see how it is tomorrow. It also claims killing grubs/armyworm/cutworms. |

之后发现只有Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer.他们还把这种放在bayer 24
hour grub killer的盒子里...不知道是不是产品更新了.
今晚有查看了下情况,确实好多了.很难见到虫了.看见些尸体..浇了一桶肥皂水下去,出
来的都是蚯蚓.
继续观察...

当然，这个是马后炮了。最好控制 grub 的时候是
夏天入秋以前，七八九月左右。如果有 grub 的迹象就先
下药，防止 grub 大规模长大。早治疗效果好，
现在都长大了，而且损害已经造成了。
关键是，就算你不治疗， grub 已经吃饱了，
天气冷了马上就进入地下休眠，避开寒冬。
等到来年春天变爬出来成甲克虫。
所以损害最大的那个时期恐怕已经过去了。 |
