因为 32 = 2^5.
刚写了一个程序，利用 binary search 的思路.
首先选定一个 upper bound，也就是 ceiling(log(n)).
然后再 i=2 到 upper bound 每一个做 binary search.
例如，n=32，upper bound = log(32) = 5.
i=2，从 low = 1 到 high = ceiling(n^(1/2))
i=3, 从 low = 1 到 high = ceiling(n^1/3))
..
以此类推...
binary search 的 invariant 就是比较 target 和 middle and middle's next，看哪
一个比较近。如果是离 middle 比较近，那就 middle's next 和它上边的值都可以抛
掉了。相反，那就 middle 和它下边的值就可以抛掉。
这里，我们确保 middle's next 不会大于 high。这个条件可以保证，因为取的是
lower middle = (L+H)/2.

要在N个串里面找nearest neighbor，要找M次，问题是相似性测度计算太慢。
要是我首先会试下面的方法：
1. python并行化上多核。假设有8 core，速度直接提高8倍。
2. 我会先在前N/L个串中找nearest neighbor，L需要调，预设为100吧。
开销为整个问题的1/L。算完后对nearest neighbor的距离就有个下界了。
然后剩下所有的串先用quick_ratio/really_quick_ratio算上届，超不过
那个下界的直接扔掉，超过了再用ratio算。
3. 要还是慢，有多台机器就上多台机器吧。不需要mapreduce。
苦主那个相似性测度是一个近似edit distance的heuristic，本身就做不得准。
上面也说了苹果橘子的问题。python那段代码实现其来应该很罗嗦，想用
别的语言写一遍并不容易。用java实现同样的算法复杂度上不会更优，光靠
语言可以提高至少10倍速度吧。对N个串用倒排表建索引确实是个优化，但是
程序写起来就更罗嗦，我觉得不值得做。

就是把高维通过随机线性变换降维(相对的,PCA是优化出来的一组基),
能大致保持距离.
关于nearest neighbor的结论是, 一般而言, 随着维度升高
r/R -> 1
r: nearest neighbor distance
R: fartherst neighbor distance
这个可以解释为什么有人找老公/买房子越来越下不了决心.
因为看到的维度越来越多, 就会发现其实并没有特别好的.
或者说, 一般来说, 在极高维做nearest neighbor search没有意义.
实际数据表观维度很高, 但是维度之间有相关性, 所以往往
内蕴的维度并不是太高.
所以你说的compressed sensing的重要性应该是"一定的统计条件"是
什么. 我没学过compressed sensing, 完全根据你的贴子猜的.

不过火警训练是每年都要的。
火警响了，第一就是关门，每个门都是防火防烟的。医院的人员配置不可能做到搬离病
人。因为火警一响，就不能用电梯。现在的病人，至少1/3是不能自己走的。很多都是
完全卧床的。我们一般是6个病人一个护士，8-12个病人一个护工，能照顾独立行走的
病人走就不错了。完全卧床的病人走防火通道那是不可能的，除非是FIREFIGHTER来背
。所以只能按POLICY来做。
当然大部分是假火警。但是真要是本楼层着火了，估计只能是照顾能行动的病人逃离，
抢救剩下的病人只能是消防员的工作了。
平常把一个不能行动的病人从CART移动到床上都要4个人。你怎么抢救。
除了关门，碰到突发的火灾，所有的医院POLICY都是R〉A〉C〉E
