一家之言,想到哪里随便写写,都是小例子,各系情况不同,可能不是广泛适用。
1.research的quality.我以前认为大家都不是一个field,看research就是看你文章数目
,和journal的impact factor.这次才发现不一定。我们committee一个老师,把申请人
的dissertation都要过来读的,还有journal paper的sample都读了,有个印度人,两片
文章里有一大段话都一样,但是committee提出他plagiarize。他文章不少,但是大家
质疑他文章的quallity。用中文说呢,这人有点机会主义。自然他就出局了。反正尽量
对自己的东西严格一点,没坏处。
2.research and teaching overlap.以前我review材料的时候也说过这个,很多人不同
意。我现在感觉还是这样,如果你能发现系里其他人和你overlap较多,你最好能想想你

Thank you for your comments. I would oppose the hiring because of the
potential problems envisioned, judged from her defensive/elusive/evasive,
however you want to put it, first response. Generally speaking, it suggests
that the candidate is not very easy to get along, and could be the one who
stirs things up in the future.
Whether a male interviewer should ask a personal question like this one, it,
as I said, completely depends on how comfortable (we all have common sense,
