发帖数: 282 | 3 Nobody should and could answer these questions for you. Believe me, if you
could not even handle these, then you do not deserve that position. Well,
just to offer some references.
1. Nobody would expect a newly hired junior faculty to make significant
contribution to the service side. Attitude is more important than
contribution. Willingness could be where you would like to emphasis.
2. You are Chinese, the ability to address issues from Asia is a good point
to make. You are part of the diversity, so, you are more dedicated to the
learning style and habits of international students. You were an
international student anyway.
3. This varies too much across fields of study. Guess you should always
define the outcome first, quantify the results, and make efforts to improve
the outcomes while maintaining the experience of learning.
4. I can not help you on these.

发帖数: 1573 | 4 这些都是典型的interview入门问题吧，google一下应该就有不少可借鉴的。但我的
concern是，如果我是search committee的话，我不会喜欢听到标准答案的，而是，必
须结合自己的详细例子来讲。
service contribution我不清楚，
incorporate diversity是几乎每个专业的面试都有可能问到的，我自己的回答是，要
首先了解学生的cultrual background，然后individulize对他们的教学方法，比如，
在有些cultrual里，上课随便发言，挑战老师，是encourage的，而在另外一些
cultrual，学生更习惯被填鸭，不习惯critical thinking或者提出challenging
questions，对于这些学生，就应该鼓励他们去挑战老师，上课多主动向他们提问。这
只是一个例子。
define learning outcomes，我准备的是，不光是看paper/pencil的成绩，而且要多方
面考察他们对知识的实际应用能力，以及在学习这门课时所花的努力程度，对课程的兴
趣，approach to learning，attitude 等等。
teaching failure，或者challenges in teaching，我说的是，上课的时候学生不爱听
，没兴趣，改进方式是，evaluate他们的目前水平，然后又针对性的设计课程，不至于
太难，也不至于太容易，采取多种teaching modality，视觉的，听觉的，增加课堂互
动，encourage group project，等等。
我也是新手，第一次准备这些，也不知道对不对，互相讨论学习哈。

已经pass了第一轮，第二轮是和dean and campus president面，也不知道这些问题对
不对，大概应该准备大一点的问题。

关键是，课要讲得清楚，口齿清楚，人谦和，approachable，不要牛比轰轰，你就拿下
了，你要回答得滴水不漏，sorry，offer不是你的，你信不信？至于为什么，不能告诉
