我觉得这个问题很难回答是因为我的research一定是要和当地的local need以及当地的
grant opportunity相结合，因为都是land grand university. 但说实话，我真的不
了解一个从来都没去过的州在我的研究方向上的local need和grant 环境，以及都谁可
以collaborate。
请问有什么好的标准答案吗？希望我问的这个问题对大家都有帮助。 |

instead of a loner. You might want to take a look at the other professors'
research projects (papers) and see how their work can be used to support
your research. Many NSF programs require multi-disciplinary research so you
need to know the person you can hang out with or work with for that purpose
as well.
If you cann't figure out

I doubt you are a competitive candidate and can conduct research
independantly.
Think of it. There are many ways to get those info remotely through
colleagues, through internet, through friends of friends, or just ask your
advisor for advices.
Regarding to whom you can collaborate, I think one important thing is to
emphasize that your area is unique. The reason you collaborate with others
is
because toghter you can cover more ground for the department and conduct
multi-
disciplinary research.
In real life, if you want to survive and thrive, you will have to be a good
team player. Even though you can do perfectly well without anybody's help,
you still need someone as a friend to cover your back in the department.
The career as a professor is such a demanding job. I personally think you'd
better check whom you are going to work with and whom you can be friend with
before hand, when you still can have a choice. All those time you spent on
researching the schools will benefit you in the long run - because even
though you may not end up in those schools, you may find out someone you
potentially can work with in the future.

个一两天google大概心里就有数了吧。
“ 一个从来没去过的地方,最需要怎样的 research,这个怎么查呢?” 这本身不就是一
个research问题嘛，其实都算不上是re-search，最多是search吧 |
