10月初开始准备NIW, 后来发现EB1A和NIW材料都是可以通用的，所以自己写推荐信的时
候把移民类别之类的词都去掉了，最后两个申请用的一模一样的推荐信
以前发过背景（http://www.mitbbs.com/article_t0/Immigration/33780249.html），方便大家就转贴过来：

Paper：13 (一作6篇，二作5篇，N作2篇，IF 2-12), 另外13篇 under review (一作5
篇，二作8篇, 估计 IF 2-5) （------under review申请的时候没有提）
Conference abstracts：20
Review：240 (136 papers for 30 journals， 104 abstracts for 2 top
international conferences)
Citation：45
Media Report：自己一作文章只有三个小网站报道了，有两篇挂名第5作的文章(一共12
个作者)被报道了挺多，大小网站有30多个，包括reuters, AACR, Yahoo, Time, NPR,
eurekalert, NDTV, Raw Story, Science Daily, Medical Daily, Newswise, Chicago
Ttribune, Houston Chronicle, businessinsider, dailymagazine (不知道这个能不
能放在contribution里面？) （------混合在contribution里了）
Other：有一篇一作的文章有被US和Canada的政府报告引用了两段，另外两个一作文章
被两个教科书引用了一小段（------ 后来发现有一个教科书是在批判这个文章，所以
后来也没提）

推荐信 4 封（3封独立，1封老板，全美国）
Review-编辑的推荐信 2封（1封美国，1封英国-美国外籍院士）
Timeline：
10.02 找老板的朋友们要推荐信

10.24 NIW收到
11.01 eb1a寄出
11.02 eb1a收到
11.04 USCIS网站显示eb1a收到（假的RD？，纸板信上的RD日期还是11.02）
11.09 eb1a Approved
11.10 手机收到eb1a Approval Notice (前面帖子总结过手机确实比email先收到，而
且是晚上7点到早上7点之间，我是早上5：30收到的，email是8点收到)
经验总结 (其实就是自己瞎猜，谁也不知道officer是怎么考量的)：
1. Citation数量不是必需的，我没有提供任何Citation数量的信息，没有给google
scholar
2. 媒体报道穿插在contribution中间，防止被单独列出来做RFE
3. 推荐信都用完成时，不讲future contribution，不用 will之类的
4. Contribution能找到10个就差不多了吧。好的Contribution可能是比较practical的
那种，我的都和临床治疗相关，延长寿命，降低成本
5. 推荐信多用例子，吹牛的话放在每段例子的结尾
6. 推荐信最花时间，找老板帮你要最快最好而且还不改信的内容
7. 推荐信少了没关系，内容要翔实，多例子，四封推荐信都在2.5-3页
最后想说的话，大家不要光关注citation数量。因为现在生物，遗传方向的引用长得很
快，又有大批这个学科的同学在申请，他们都是好几百的引用，所以可能把整个水准线
都拉高了。我觉得大家可以数数自己的Contribution够7-10个就可以试试了。咨询了一
些律师,没人愿意接，都是用citation的指标给据了，合情合理，律师早期评估的时候
不会管你的Contribution，这个东西还是要自己挖掘。使劲挖吧。
Petition Letter
用的模板，都差不多，一共16页(1.5倍行距，不加推荐信摘抄部分和图表的时候是10页
)，去掉自己的research 就没什么东西了

I am filing my immigrant petition as self-petitioner/beneficiary in the
category of an alien of extraordinary ability in the sciences, under section
203(b) (1) (A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. This petition will
prove that:

(A). AUTHORSHIP OF SCHOLARLY ARTICLES IN PEER-REVIEWED JOURNALS IN MY FIELD
1。列出杂志的ranking和 percentile （Table 1）
2。每个杂志找一段杂志网站上自我介绍很刁的那种话，比如说“The Journal of XXX
single most credible, authoritative resource for XXX””
(B). ORIGINAL SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTIONS OF MAJOR SIGNIFICANCE
1。摘抄 NIW，每个研究成果最多写一段，写多没人看，中间穿插 contribution （
bold字体）
2。讲完所有的research和contribution后把四封推荐信里面每封找几句很吹得话集中
贴出来
(C). PARTICIPATION AS A JUDGE OF THE WORK OF OTHERS IN THE FIELD OF XXX
1。列出杂志的ranking和 percentile （Table 2）
2。特别是国家（Figure 1，用了bar chart，X-axis: 国家； Y-axis：杂志数量）
II.　I will continue to work in the area of my extraordinary ability in the
United States.
III.　My future stay in the United States will substantially benefit this
country.
以上两个部分完全摘抄 NIW，不过少写了一点，加一起 II和 III写了一页半。

深挖独立引用impact之类的亮点我觉得挺强的case了 media report可以弥补citation

谢谢。主要是家人比较给力，吃完饭就放我到办公室整理材料，其实除了推荐信别的时
间都可以控制
1。PL是网上模板拼的，一共小10页。publication部分一段话（2，3句）加一个
ranking，percentile，还有杂志摘抄。 Review部分也是一段话（2，3句）加一个
ranking，percentile，还有杂志摘抄。Contribution整理花时间，但每个
Contribution我只写了1，2句话，这个困难是要写的言简意赅，所以花了三天的样子。
2。Index of Exhibits。我粘在上面了，毕竟是个list，好整理
3。写推荐信最花时间，不过里面用了很多自己论文的introduction部分，套上模板的
赞美语句，一晚上大概写一个。不过还好只要了四封，每封写1个研究方向，我做的几
个research几乎都不相关，所以四封写起来比较顺，不用担心过分重复研究部分的问题
。老板的朋友都很好说话，两封是过了一周回的，两封是当天就签的。所以找推荐信要
回复快就要去求求熟人了。
所以瓶颈是要推荐信的时间吧。 PL写的短点，省时省力
战线脱的越长就越缺乏动力，一鼓作气，再而衰，三而竭

收到文章邀请后尽量在3-7天完成review。除非特别好的文章，否则Comments一般都认
真写1-1.5页左右，保证质量。这样editor会给你发很多，也会推荐给别的Journal。很
多Journal用的reviewer系统可以搜到别的杂志的reviewer，所以有几个editor给你的
评分高了，邀请也就多了
每个学科的会议差异可能比较大，我们这个学科的会议会给所在协会的member发邮件邀
请，发个CV过去他们审核一下就可以审abstract了。
