Growth Upsell Engineering team at Gusto. Our team is growing and we’re
looking to double the team size in the next 12 months!
Unique opportunity in Growth Engineering @ Gusto!
The Growth Upsell team is responsible for driving revenue through feature
adoption and churn reduction. It’s a unique challenge that requires
understanding of all the features/offerings of our product, and bringing
them to our users at the right moment. We do this by being an opinionated
partner to all the employers on our platform, and help them with their needs
when they need them.
This team is highly cross-functional — we work very closely with Customer
Success, Lifecycle Marketing, Sales, and pretty much all Product Engineering
teams at Gusto. The type of work we do in Growth Upsell has a direct line
to the top-line company goals. You'll know precisely how your work is
impacting the company’s success, and the team plays a key role in advising
the company on how to achieve our revenue goals from feature adoption and
churn reduction. This is truly a unique opportunity that allows us to
connect engineering expertise with business insights.

Growth Expansion Engineering team at Gusto. The Growth org is growing and we
have a few exciting fullstack roles!
Growth Expansion — this team is responsible for driving revenue through
feature adoption and churn reduction. It’s a unique challenge that requires
understanding of all the features/offerings of our product, and bringing
them to our users at the right moment. We’re in the early stages of
building towards “approaching customers at the right time at the right
place” — this is what we believe will lead to our vision of customers “
do more with Gusto”. We’re starting to partner with the Growth Foundation
team on ML-driven recommendations and also improving our customer targeting
system to allow more sophisticated targeting and delivery of messages. Open
roles: Tech Lead (7+ years of experience), Senior Fullstack Engineer with
manager experience/want to move into management (6+ years of fullstack
engineering experience), Fullstack Engineers (4+ years of experience).
Growth Acquisition — this team is responsible for optimizing and growing
the acquisition funnel for our Direct channel (small business employers who
sign up for Gusto themselves), from signup, to onboarding, to running their
1st payroll. The team currently focuses on 2 things: always-on funnel
optimization/experimentation, and long-term investment of 24-hour onboarding
(as opposed to multi-day onboarding today). Open role: Tech lead for funnel
optimization/experimentation pod (7+ years of fullstack engineering
experience).
Growth Accountant — this is a brand new team that will be focusing on
acquisition effort for the Accountant channel. The Accountant channel has a
lot of untapped potential of which Gusto is excited to invest in. This team
will initially focus on optimizing the acquisition UI/UX (signup, onboarding
, onboarding their clients). This team will be a full pod consisting of
Engineering, Product, and Design. Open roles: Fullstack Engineers (4+ years
of experience).
Growth Foundation — this team is the foundational team in Growth,
supporting all Growth product teams (Expansion, Acquisition, Accountant) and
Biz (Marketing, Sales). Some of the exciting stuff this team owns: ML
recommendation system (currently WIP in collaboration with Growth Expansion)
, Experimentation framework and program for Gusto, instrumentation strategy
and enforcement. Open role: Senior Fullstack Engineer (7+ years of
experience).
Shared Experiences — this team is responsible for all common experiences
that don’t necessarily belong to any specific product team. For instance,
the dashboard (the main screen/“homepage” for our app when logged in),
communications framework (different channels of communication with customers
, including emails, text, in-app experiences), and the information
architecture for the main app (best way to help customers navigate the app).
Open roles: Engineering Manager (7+ years of experience, 2+ years of
Engineering Management experience), Fullstack Engineer (3+ years of
experience).
All Growth teams are highly cross-functional — we work very closely with
Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and pretty much all Product Engineering
teams at Gusto. The types of work we do in Growth have a direct line to the
top-line company goals (ARR, ACV, customer adds, etc). You'll know precisely
