The big question appears to be whether Harbaugh has his sights set on the NF
L or whether he'd be content ruling the roost in Ann Arbor for the next 12 o
r 15 years. Based on his background (lived in Ann Arbor from third grade thr
ough 10th grade, worshipped Bo Schembechler), his control-freak nature (no g
eneral managers in college football) and what appears to be a love for moldi
ng impressionable young athletes, we're of the mind that Michigan is Harbaug
h's dream job.
ESPN's Adam Schefter -- who overlapped with Harbaugh as an undergrad at Mich
igan -- has heard as much from his sources, saying, "Harbaugh's leaving Stan
ford, but everything I hear tells me it's not San Francisco. The University
of Michigan is the place to beat right now. But stay tuned -- we're about to
enter the postseason and the silly season."
We should also note that Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News has been dr
opping hints about the Michigan job in his recent blog posts (here's one exa
mple), making us wonder if he too has an inkling that Harbaugh would pick th
e Wolverines over the NFL. | W********s
