I think the real fight is not about protecting student privacy.
What the school district want: not to release student records, they release
student record with ssn, then they can use student privacy as a good excuse
to fight against [releasing student records]

number]. The [unigue number] can be used to get ssn if needed.
From technical viewpoint, it is not hard to hide the senstive information of
the recorders, while the recorders still can be used for performing a
statistical analysis of how California treats disabled students.
I am sure the school district will not come up with a solution that protect
student privacy while they has to release student recorders.

Q. How do I know if my student’s records will be released?
A. The released records will impact students who have attended a California
public school as far back as January 1, 2008.
Q. What type of records is the California Department of Education being
ordered to release?
A. Records include names, medical information, home addresses, disciplinary
records, progress reports, and some Social Security numbers.
Q. What can I do?
A. At this time, the CDE is allowing parents/guardians to file a written
objection to the release of records by submitting a written objection by
April 1, 2016. The link is available above.
PLEASE NOTE: Submission of the written objection does not guarantee that the
records will not be released, as the ultimate decision will be at the
