I think he knows very well that our generation is still too far from the "

扯淡。我很怀疑别的基础科学家，数学家物理学家化学家，如果就是研究基础理论和现
象的，会不会没事发paper的时候要写上证明了XXX定理能帮助卫星上天；发现了XXX粒
子能帮助农业增产，或者发现了XXX化学键的某特性能帮助改良医疗器械？
从HGP到ENCODE到BRAIN initiative，这些自上而下组织起来的大工程，public image
都是要对解决人类健康问题有直接贡献。连这么基础的，甚至连具体目标都还需要论证
研究的BRAIN,居然也说我们的首要任务是解决PD。。。
也许生物学家们说的口滑已经不在乎了，或者他们发现不这么写首先自己的peer就不支
持不欣赏。但是这么做对这个学科没什么好处。我还记得当年北大有个教授发了篇某农
作物突变体的plant cell,里面号称这个能帮助该农作物增产云云。结果真的有不少农
民兄弟千里迢迢来询问怎么具体使用这个发现。从autism到cancer，从PD/AD到肝炎病
毒，我亲眼看到亲耳听到被忽悠的老百姓，中国的美国的，都不少。也许普通人被忽悠

如果要神经marker，周围神经系统很可能少不了。
如果没有这方面的数据，那就只能看运气。如果有这方面的数据，那就要看你的课题，
会不会冲突。比如你研究brain 跟糖尿病 那么leak到胰腺去了肯定不行，但是如果
leak到肺什么的，那也无所谓。然后还有就是运气，如果你做knockin（就是把一条
allele替换成cre），那么大概是没啥意外，如果你是弄bac后面接cre做随机插入，那
么它自己从哪里leak，你还真控制不了，只能多做几个line挑一挑。 |

发帖数: 95 | 14 connectivity指的是神经元之间的拓扑关系，这种复杂的拓扑关系可能是神经网络能完成复杂功能的根本原因，也可能只是要素之一。所以一部分人包括我们认为，connectivity虽然重要，但可能并不是脑运算能力如此强大的最根本原因。有过一系列的实验证据表明，皮层这一级别的神经结构类似于通用计算机，连到visual input上就能做视觉处理，连到auditory input上就能做声音处理。这就好比说只要某块脑有足够数量的神经元，和足够多的互联，它就有了足够的信息表征能力（信息熵），至于具体怎么连接，未必重要。
不过这种观点仅仅限于皮层这种“通用结构”，一旦考虑到不同级别的神经结构譬如basal ganglia, cerebellum, spinal cord的互联，那connectivity就变得非常重要了。你说的计算机主板的例子很恰当，主板正是cpu、内存、板卡这些不同结构的互联，所以线打乱了就别玩了。通用结构不是主板，而是更类似于可编程的通用芯片，把互联的能力预留好就行，至于具体怎么连等用的时候再说。但类似Blue Brain的项目看上去不是在重建整个神经系统，而恰恰是在重建脑... 阅读全帖 |

关于你列出的几点，还是有必要继续说说的。第一我给的两篇理论paper并不是fit数据，也不是解释现象，所以这条线上的理论研究并没有trivialize实验工作的意思。这个理论框架的要点在于，从数学上讲一个spiking network应该具备文中提到的特性，因此神经元组成的网络也具备这些特性。所以从工程角度来说，如果利用spiking network的特性造个分布式计算网络出来，可能会有很多意想不到的好处，好处包括做一些明显计算机比人差很多的事，如dealing with uncertainty，compliant movement control等等。另外的一个“好处”是这条理论延伸下去，如果连AI都能显著提升，那可能就很接近神经计算的本质了。不过这个“好处”尚属空中楼阁，目前可作茶余笑谈.

背景：地球的北极点有一个空军基地，有无穷架飞机。所有飞机的配置一模一样。每一架飞机携带的汽油恰好能供飞机沿一条经线从北极点飞到南极点。如果两架飞机相遇，每一架飞机都可以在空中把自己的一部分或者全部汽油给另外一架飞机。
要求：设计一个策略，使一架飞机能够从北极点沿西经90度经线飞至南极点，然后沿东经90度经线返回北极点。也就是说，这架飞机的轨迹是一个完整的大圆。此策略必须满足以下条件：
(1)所有加油的飞机也必须返回北极点；
(2)要求用到的飞机最少。 |

都是经典题：
第一题是3个开关3个灯那个，
第二题是60mile的圈子，第一圈均速30，问第二圈多少才能均速60。
第三题是100盏灯，开始全灭，第一个人switch 1的倍数的灯，第二个人switch 2的倍
数，第3个人switch 3的倍数。。。第100个人switch 第100盏灯，问最后几盏亮的（就
是看约数的奇偶性）。
第四题，一杯牛奶一杯咖啡，牛奶舀一勺倒进咖啡，然后咖啡杯舀一勺倒进牛奶，问牛
奶里的咖啡多还是咖啡里的牛奶多（一样多）。
最后才问了个技术的：一个data storage file system，用什么数据结构比较好，容易
扩展，比如在存储不够的情况下，我都没太明白他说的什么意思，既然提到storage
data structure, 那就随便提一下B+ Tree，没想到他说就是等我说这个notion看我知

they think they are smart.
If they are really good in technology, or know how to make $$ from
technology, they can easily impress interviewees by asking serious questions
, but if not, they could only choose the ones they knew long time ago to
show their superior.
Personally I would pass those companies, even offers are on hands. That is
my wild guess and 0.02. |
