这个n40L如果装windows估计和ex490差别不大， 装linux，在NAS的系统支持上不知道
会不会有synology好，当然对于能折腾的xd们问题不大。

发帖数: 5576 | 8 Those untweaked speed are close, I didn't do those tweakings on either client/server, since I am already very satisfied by its speed.
The other difference is robocopy vs FTP, robocopy could be slower than testing as ftp server
EX490 comes with celeron, I have upgraded to C2D first and then QuadCore, no
obvious copy/paste performance difference on those three CPUs. I bet
Celeron and 2GB memory is good enough for NAS.

1. HP home server， EX490， 换过CPU，3.0 dual Core，还是home server的系统。
2.这个

8GB内存。
因为有另一台server做下载（那一台速度慢，但是可以接两个esata，比EX490多一个）
，准备留上面的一台拿来做transcoding；可以跑air play和Plex的server。
第二台虽然可以解1080P，但还不如搞个HD900来代替HTPC，毕竟原盘解的话，估计效果
一般，试过用第二台，放ESPN3，都有些卡，不知道是不是没调好。
而且490出的话，价比较高。你们觉得怎么样？ |

发帖数: 3632 | 10 由于家用电脑比较分散，重要文件需要备份，最近考虑购买一台文件服务器。
初步定在HP EX487或者EX490.这些都支持4块硬盘。大概400刀左右，系统是WIN HOME
SERVER。这两个都是赛扬2.0左右的CPU，2G内存。支持硬盘热插拔的。
最近有发现有些DELL的服务器比如POWEREDGE也比较便宜，比如CUP是至强，显然好于赛
扬，不用OS的只要300刀，我有办法可以搞到正版WINDOW2008 SERVER的企业版。不知道
对于我家用来说这个方案是否优于惠普的方案？
或者说这个DELL的服务器是面向什么方向的？
另外HOME SERVER是不是2008 SERVER的子集？

发帖数: 1432 | 19 D-Link DNS323算是性价比比较高的了。
但是我用起来觉得还是差很多。开驴子然后stream视频，基本上没戏，64M内存太寒碜了。
刚才又看了一下HP 的Mediasmart EX490，觉得还行，体积也不大。虽然对windows home server无爱。但搞个linux上去应该没啥问题。CPU以后不满意了可以整个775针65W的上去，散热注意一下问题不大。
比自己build一个要强一些吧，G33的板子和静音电源，还有四个3.5槽，都比较少见的。
有在用的兄弟分享一下经验? |

Those samsung drives are very quiet and tempature is lower than Seagate and
Hitachi. Although those drivers are 5400RPM, but the speed can match 7200 HDs. |

Got that Q8200s deal on ebay at about $110
The 65w low voltage version of Quad core is rare and expensive; Q9550s is the best
CPU can fit HPEX,but it's over $300 on ebay.
Depends what you need, if you only want NAS, the Celeron and 2GB are good
enough.
But if you are going to get the full potential of that little size server, CPU and memory upgrade are well worth the money. |

overheat的硬盘是主硬盘。 只放了两块硬盘。
机子还没拆开过呢。

I used to have a Hp mediasmart ex490. and I also tried some Netgear old
model. Now I am using synology.
The Synology is way better in terms of functionality, speed, power,
simplicity, etc. Well, of course you might find it in a different way. |
