找自己喜欢的申请。主要看兴趣，科研背景和PD/faculty脾气相头
住院期间做科研大大加分，一是大家都知道住院期间大家超级忙，如果还有口气干点别
的，证明这个人很有能力，另外就是对科研有commitment。
推荐信最有效的是PD信得过的人的强力推荐，他们有时候会打电话核实
对申请program的背景要熟悉，比如有什么funding，哪些课题
对自己的career path有一个比较清晰的把握
以上这些其实和申请住院大同小异
牛人申请事例：
大牛：８０年代想搞HIV CNS病变，那时候HIV刚刚兴起，没什么人做CNS系统，苦于没
有可以fellowship申请，于是自己住院毕业后当faculty，建立了fellowship。现在牛
校椅子男
中牛：９０年代想一边搞临床一边搞科研，于是和program商量给自己量身定做了个
clinical reasearch fellowhip，但是是non-credited。也算是第一批吃螃蟹的。现为
PD。

己的申请吧!
我是申请A/I的fellowship,因为A/I的funding有限所以很多program没有这个
fellowship,全国也就70几个program，加起来100多个名额。内科，儿科都可以申请，
有的program标明只要儿科。因为我以前做过这方面的research，所以开始住院医前，
已经决定申请A/I了。今年一共申请了大约50个program.本人感觉这个specialty还是很
看重研究背景的。前年大约是170人竞争115个位子。
至今收到5个IV UTMB at Galveston, University of Northwestern school of
medicine, UPMC, University of Tennessee at Memphis,Creighton University
rejection from JHU， JHU要求你的PS讲出为啥选择JHU。可能我的理由太简单(JHU一

fellowship 面试，比residency 面试stress 程度大很多.
面试的candidate数量少，interviewer多，时间也长，一般从早上一直到下午。一般都
是department chair,然后fellowship program director,clinical的两三个attending
,然后lab的leader.
面试话题都不是social life或者personality，都已经是professional的level了，面
试者更关心的是你的career plan。这个非常重要，而且不是泛泛地说我喜欢这个科，
这个科里具体什么方向，准备做什么课题，有没有意向中的导师。
事先要把department里面的头头脑脑搞清楚，谁做什么的，特别是面试你的人。去面试
前，可以事先问小秘要schedule，然后研究一下各位面试医生的背景。
把自己和这个专业做过的相关的case report或者以前的research好好整理一下，务必
做到know what you |

进入住院医的行列。人生总是一个又一个选择，这几天LD有点纠结，所以，我这个外行
想偷偷帮忙给LD一点点帮助。
家里的LD背景血液肿瘤以前，有研究背景，所以申请这个fellowship可能容易点，但是
他做了一段住院医之后，对消化的专业也很感兴趣，但是他这个背景弱些，据说消化的
fellowship非常难申请，不知道这二个有多大区别：
1。从病人数目来讲，是不是血液肿瘤以后每天要看的病人数比消化多很多？据说很累
2。二个专科，哪个life style更好点？ 我是真的不想劳工太辛苦了，做医生压力好大
，已经知道的认识的三个医生都自己生了很严重的病，我真心希望劳工选择一个轻松点
的，自己身体也很重要。
3。有没有其他的内科专科比较好找工作，工作不管大医院小诊所都能去的，赚钱多少
没有关系，只要有个稳定的工作，养活孩子们就行。
4。如果消化和血液一起申请，老板会不会很反感？要推荐信的时候该如何跟PD去说？
5。消化背景不强，如果想申请，做住院医期间该如何弥补这个缺陷？申请有希望吗？

些临床经验。没有好的publications能找到clinical fellowship吗？国内有两篇文章

现在住院医三年级。其实从一年级开始就很喜欢rheum，但是迟迟下不了决心做
fellowship，觉得在我家附近找到一个位置比登天还难，实在不想再和家人分开3年了
，总想着在家附近随便找份门诊的工作就好了。
但是兴趣使然，三年级我又轮转了一次rheum（在家附近的一个大学医院），真的
喜欢，觉得如果不申请会不甘心，于是决定只在家门口申请，成最好，不成也不会后悔。
当时已经是11月，上网一看才发现match day是12月1日。我连CV都没有整好，更别
提推荐信了。家门口的大学医院不多，一个一个问过去是不是招人，一个已经有人了，
还有一个要等match结果。知道我交材料参加match来不及了，答应说如果他们不match,
会看看我的材料。
后面就顺理成章了。我乘着那一个月赶紧搜集材料，写PS，要推荐信。
他们居然真的没有match!!! 要了我的材料，很快就安排了面试，面试表现正常发
挥。但是面试后告诉我，还有其他人会去面试，他们会需要一段时间作决定。饱受煎熬

只做完了thoracic surgery fellowship.两个人都申请了今年的categorical surgery
residency,可惜一个面试都没有。只好继续呆在我们这里受剥削，据说工资和我们

发帖数: 238 | 13 艾玛，泼冷水的多了，你也习惯了，我就再给你泼几瓢冷水，如果你觉得太冷，
就直接跳到最后一行看我签名档。
1. fellow申请实际上也就是楼上说的那几条而已，用不着每个星期开会讨论。
2. 如果需要讨论的话，你的讨论组必须得有从小的，基础比较差的Program出来，
申请到了好地方、好fellowship的人加入讨论才有意义，如果大家都是申请人，
讨论不出来个啥子名堂。麦地毕业生里面，这种情况我知道的有，但是，这两
年麦地毕业生都很少回来发言，你让人掏心掏肺给你传授秘诀，那就很不容易了。
3. 你如果要申请好的fellowship，必须沉下心来苦练内功，变成你自己program
人见人爱，人见人夸的明星（注意是必须条件而不是充分条件）。网上学习小组
有帮助，但花过多时间和精力，不见得能事半功倍。
4. fellowship最关键一条还是network，记得小粉在哪传授过network的功夫，不
知道你看到没有。另外，要让人给你传授实实在在的秘诀，我觉得你跟人必须得
是网下有交情才行。

是要推迟两三个月才能开始fellowship.问题是我应该在签合同之前跟program讲呢，还
是等到合同签了再讲？

知道这个fellowship有没有prematch之类的啊？什么时候可以知道结果了呢？

并不赞成第三年，理由是第三年你需要时间找工作。
现在的情况是，你要两条腿走路。不要等到Fellowship黄了，再去找工作，那就迟了。
另，Fellowship很少有Prematch。如果是Prematch，也是本医院熟悉的，签个协议，把
你Rank在高位，你要放弃其他Program，最后，还是走的Match。 |

今天据信中说‘The proposal was considered highly meritorious and was well
into the top quarter of the strong group that was considered this year’，请
问这是否是对每个被拒的applicant说的同样的套话? 我可以从中看出自己的申请材料
哪里不好么？
导师曾说申请postdoc fellowship最重要三个因素是：publication, recommendation
and proposal. 自己觉得前面两项应该还算过得去（并列一作Science,Plos Biol, 二作
Cell)；proposal中，现在做的部分有一些平淡，但是我有一个新的想法，自己觉得很exciting
；而且按照据信里的措辞，proposal应该不是很差。
很想知道自己的申请到底什么地方比较弱，好在以后的申请中更加努力；如果谁可以帮

would care about my advisor's connection with them? In general, how is my
postdoc advisor's network going to affect the outcome of my fellowship

Actually, my postdoc advisor recent publication record is not good and the
postdocs in his lab mostly ended up in industry. Would that be a big issue

最近在准备一个fellowship的interview，只有2周的时间了。
关于我的fellowship的申请，周围的都感觉我自己的CV很不错。前几年一些比CV比我差
人也都拿到了。他们都觉得如果只是看paper work，我还是很有希望的。
可是昨天我参加了一个模拟interview。感觉表现太糟糕了。下来以后，委屈得大哭了
一场。
大家都觉得我presentation做的还不错，充满了enthusiasm。可是回答问题实在是太糟
糕了，完全就答不到点子上，有些答案也很糟糕，还有人说我的答案很naive。
我自己下来感觉就是根本不会sell idea。
我觉得一方面是自己英语的原因—回答问题的时候说得太快，别人不一定能完全听懂。
另一方面真的是不会推销自己的idea。
比如，别人让举一个例子说你的方法能有什么用途？我想了半天竟然举不出一个简单易
懂的例子来。结果说了一个需要对这个领域有比较深了解才能听懂的例子。
还有人问说为什么不用现有的方法。我竟然说现有的方法have failed --- 下来以后我

发帖数: 133 | 35 一个很好的哥们申请了个postdoc fellowship，但由于身体原因回国治病，暂停了
半年。由于身体健康状况现在还是不行，不能返回，不得不停止该fellowship。由于暂
停期间还有research funding payment，现在要求写正式的辞职信，尤其是说明
effective termination date来计算funding，从而收回多发的funding。他认为应该是
suspension前一天为正式的effective termination date，因为该天后他没有正式工作
。但他老板让他写暂停后的某一天为正式的effective termination date。不知为何，
朋友担心他的老板这样做是有私心，为了少返回很多暂停期间的funding。
哥们很犹豫，担心这样写的话，funding部门会责备他，因为这是他的辞职信。以
后可能会被该部门封杀，不能申请所有的funding。问题是：这种情况下effective
termination date 到底是暂停前还是暂停后的某一天？funding部门应该按哪天来计算
funding？

两夫妻一个PI 一个技术员开夫妻店我也颇为见过几个（而且还是老美）。
至于说申请fellowship，他们大概是不会知道你们的关系的，即使对方不巧正好知道，
顶多也就是有些腹诽，但是不能明白着因此而disqualify 她的申请，最多就是找其他
理由来据掉而已。

第一，系主任想给你这个样的同事么？
第二，系主任如果不想，你这个同事反而知道了这个事情并且没拿到肯定意见很大；
第三，不要认为给别人的情，别人就一定认。

凭什么人家就因为你让出了fellowship你就当这个学生的导师？

没有戏。
这个fellowship deadline是9月15日。由于本人毕业年限，过了今年我就申不了了。材
料需要系头推举信和三位同事支持信。感觉时间紧，要人帮忙又很折腾。如果希望不大
就不搞了。

，博士期间表现和文章都还不错，有足够的数据，打算在postdoc期间尝试申请一些
fellowship，甚至是grant。小弟先自我介绍下：我的主要方向是建立biosensor检测病
原微生物，涉及到 engineering，chemistry，biochemistry，polymer materials，但
是都不是特别深入，目前在agriculture领域里，老板的funding大部分是来之USDA
NIFA。
我的问题是，不知道对于我这样的领域，国际学生，能够申请些什么fellowship，或者
是 research grant。在和老板几次交谈后，他都非常支持我能够自己着手准备这些，
他也很愿意帮忙。请版上的老师们多多直接，提点下有准备方向，like USDA，NSF，

fellowship是学生自己申请的，老师只是出了比较好的推荐信。原来还付这个硕士学生
几百块钱，现在不知道还要不要付了。如果不付了，好像有点占学生便宜感觉。如果接
着付，那这学生的工资超过别人好多。 |

于是我们给了学校的证明，证明是fellowship。
irs答约，fellowship必须来源于海外。

有没有相同经历的？他们的电话好难打啊，连着打好几天都没人接，还要人15天内

目前在马里兰，有绿卡，收入是1099G NIH 的fellowship，一年大约五万多，老公今年
回中国发展，可以一年支持５万左右。女儿大了，本来打算买个２０万的房子，首付２
０％，贷个１５万。
现在的结果是：做loan的代理说1099G收入只能工作两年以后才能贷款买房，而我现在
只工作了１０个月。或者以老公的名义（２００９前都是在美国报税）按投资房来买。
问题在于：１。有没有可能以fellowship 1099G 的收入来贷款？利息高点也可以，反
正我们在五年内有能力还清贷款。
2. 投资房和自住房除了利息和首付有不同，报税和其他有没有区别？

Local小公司最近有opening. 招人的和现在老板认识（老板也知道我得到了那个
fellowship）,建议我去谈谈。见了一面，感觉这个小公司有发展。招人的人也希望我
再做一个大一点规模的presentation
现在很矛盾，想跟小公司说，先去National Lab学一年，明年再跟他们联系？也不知道
这个presentation要不要去做...
大家能给出出注意吗？ |
