I'm not sure how well you firearms. There are caliber differences in
firearms, i.e., small caliber ammo may seem weaker than big caliber ammo.
The kind of analogy you made can be exactly fitted to firearms. They are

Airsoft,bb guns, etc. in general are not considered real firearms. But the
issue is whether or not the suppressor could be connected to a real firearm,
if it's not an integral part of the air-powered rifle's barrel then it is
considered to be able to be attached to any real firearm. ATF also states
that if it's integrated into the barrel of an air gun, the barrel has to be
made such that it cannot be used to in the assemble of a real firearm....
