MA to NY or CT. MA has very good benefits for my parents with GC, including
free health insurance, cash benefit etc. My big concern is their health
insurance. Does NY or CT have any benefits for seniors? I heard NY state
most likely has it, but CT will never have it. Could anyone help me and tell
me if it is true. Also, how to apply any benefits? What's the link?

。我们公司的family plan很贵，所以我不打算把孩子加到我现在的保险里。所以我想
问下面两个问题。
1.如果我不把孩子加入现在的保险,Oxford会不会cover我和孩子住在医院48小时的费用
2.如果我不把孩子加入现在的保险,Oxford会不会cover出生以后前31天的和newborn相
关的费用，比如儿医。
我和Oxford的两个representative通过电话，他们给我的回答不一样，所以搞的我很茫
然。
关于第一点，我比较有把握是会cover的，因为我在New York政府的网站上找到的法律
条款。
关于第二点，有一个representative说会cover，他说New York政府刚刚通过了一个新
的条款要求保险公司必须cover前31天的费用。 （我忘记问他是什么条款了，而且我在
网上也找不到这个条款），但是另外一个representative就说不会cover。

发帖数: 24 | 19 Group Health 是 HMO， 跟国内的医院有些不一样的。 HMO(Health Maintenance
Organizations)主要的特点是保费便宜，病人自己负担挂号费较低，没有共付保险。
HMO较不方便的地方是不能随便看专科医生，在做很多检查之前或转诊到专科医生之前
，需要家庭医生向保险公司申请，批准后才可以进行。
从医生的角度来讲一般更喜欢看PPO（Preferred Provider Organization）的病人，这
和保险公司的付费方式有关。PPO和Medicare、Medicaid一样，是“Fee For Service”
，医生看一次PPO的病人，就可以拿一次诊费，看的越多挣的越多，医生的积极性高。
HMO正好相反，保险公司以“Capitation"的方式付医生诊费。只要病人选了家庭医生，
保险公司不管这位医生是否看了病人，都定期付给他/她一定的诊费。举个例子，上面
HMO保险卡的病人John选了Dr. Smith 做他的家庭医生，不管Dr. Smith看了John没有，

准确。 grouphealth 还有加州的 Kaiser Permenante 和一般的HMO保险不同的地方是
它们是intergrated health care system。 它们不仅卖保险，还提供医疗服务。卖保
险的钱大部分都用来付医生工资了。 只要你看grouphealth雇的医生，用grouphealth
的设施，它并不在意你看多少医生。它们挣钱的model是让成员更健康， 这样
grouphealth就能care for 更多的成员，挣更多的钱。
PPO的医生的积极性不仅是看更多的病人， 还要order更多的检验，prescribe更多的药
这样他们才能挣更多的钱。 他们的病人是否更健康对他们的收入并没影响。 很多时候
PPO医生看病人只问一两句话，然后order一大堆化验就把病人打发了。 我想板上很多

And I found this company called White Glove. They have really good reviews
online and the most important thing is it doesn't require insurance to join

一年一度的Group Health Commute Challenge明天又要开始了。这个活动是本地的casc
ade bicycle club组织的，一个公司里面骑车的人自由组队，从5月初到5月底看哪个队
骑车上班的总天数、总里程数最多。今年我们公司有21个人参加，因为每个队最多只能
10个人，干脆就按楼层分了三队，队名分别叫"Floor 1&3", "Floor 2", "Floor 5".
日子过得真快啊，去年我就是5月1号开始正式骑车上班的。那时候觉得实在是胖得不行
了，要想个方法锻炼一下。最后决定从骑车上班开始，从target买了个烂车就上路了。
我还记得刚开始的时候，上班的6 mile路程中间要停下来休息两次，回家的上坡从来都
是推上来的，那个艰难啊，不堪回首。
这一年坚持下来，我查了一下，总共52周2 |
