Here I describe some common methods to hydrogenate polyisoprene.
Generally the catalyst is Pd/CaCO3 (Strem Chemical Co.), Parr
reactor (shaker type hydrogenation apparatus #3910), 500 psi H2
(controllable) and 70oC (controllable) for 24 hr (controllable).
The condition parameters can be varied for different hydrogenation
fraction. Generally the concentration of PIP in cyclohexane is
10 g/L, and the ratio of the catalyst to polymer is 1:1.
