到的。
John “Professor” Clayton 大家应该都熟悉。现在是体育评论员里的泰斗级人物。
大家尊称为professor。当年刚出道的时候，是匹兹堡一个小记者。一天代替Steelers
的正式 beat writer去看钢人训练，发现钢人训练中有违规的现象。这呀不知是出于记
者的道德操守，还是脑子进水了。把这个事情给报道出来了。
结果联盟发现了，罚了钢人一个3轮选秀权。本来钢人正准备用这个三轮来选一个QB。
后来选秀时，这个QB被另一个球队在第三轮比港人更后的位置选了。
这个QB是匹兹堡本地高中毕业的，后来去了Notre Dame，名叫Joe Montana。之后
Montana带领49人狂扫了4个超级碗，都是大家熟知的历史。
John Clayton后来一度被匹兹堡视为不受欢迎的人。BTW Russell Wilson 也是三轮被
选上的。那个位置，不少队都有选他的打算，包括绿湾，最后被海鹰先到一步。
这就是有名的shouldergate事件

最佳总统投票，林肯、华盛顿、富兰克林.罗斯福基本排前三，但并非每个人都愿意从
众：有的喜欢Theodore Roosevelt，绘声绘色向我描述老兄如何骑着马在战场上奔驰；
有的喜欢杜鲁门，大谈二战收尾和马歇尔计划；有一次和Bethany谈这个问题，她花了
一个晚上时间讲对John Adams欣赏，如何闪电雷鸣的脾气，如何目光长远，并推荐我看
David McCullough写的Adams的传记，结果我厚厚一本书从图书馆扛回家，没翻两页到
期就还了。当时下了HBO拍的7集电视剧。
这部《John Adams》电视剧我去年看了两集，觉得够震撼，一直想看完，但是忙起来就
搁下了。前天开始重新看，今天一口气从下午3点，边看边不停pause查资料，到晚上 1
点全部看完！！一天浸泡在美国早期建国史，好像自己也跟着Adams走过起伏的一生，
不停回想各个战火田园大厅的镜头.... 最后一集以Adams在独立宣言50周年那天去世结

讲美国第二任总统John Adams的故事，亚马逊的INSTANT VIDEO上对Prime Member免费
。现在每天吃饭的时候追一集，俺这种喜欢历史，但是对美国历史没有太多了解的人，
觉得挺有意思的。
看了这个电视剧，一些参观过的美国的古迹比如Williamsburgh，就make sense了。一
些本来只是很片面认识的人物，比如富兰克林、华盛顿、托马斯杰弗逊，就变的立体起
来了。 还认识了一个大大有名的Samual Adams，竟然是John Adams的Cousin，没喝过
这个波士顿啤酒的人不多吧？但不知道他的事迹的人，大概不少吧？
据说，John Adams对美国立法的贡献在历史上被严重低估了。他要求加强联邦政府的权
力的立场，让他很不受崇尚自由的美国人民待见。就是不知道电视剧和历史真相的差别
有多大。我对他看电视之前一无所知，请了解的或看过的说说？ |

我也是对历史有兴趣而对历史所知不多的。碰巧近一年读了两本很有意思的讲JOHN
ADAMS时代的和美国历史有关的书。一本是John Adams夫人的传记"Abigail Adams，
Witness to a REvolution" by Natalie Bober。 另一本，"George Washington's
World" by Genevieve Foster。
John Adams 的父亲是乡村牧师，在当地很受人尊敬，也是积极参政议政的。他爸爸一
心要培养他上大学成为传道人，而Adams小时候不爱读书，尤其痛恨拉丁文。某日，他
向老爸提要求"能不能不学拉丁了？"。老爸答，"行啊，不读拉丁，那你给我地里挖条
沟吧。" Adams花了一天半挖沟，累的半死也没完成，最后他向老爸低头，"那我。。。
还是回去学拉丁文吧。" 自此发奋读书，15岁进入哈佛大学（当初哈佛建校的初衷是为
了培养传道人的）。Adams 20 岁从哈佛毕业后，没有成为传道人，他发现自己的兴趣
在法律，于是很快开始了律师生涯。

的一份悼词。John Barlow在2月7日去世， 终年70岁。
很惭愧， 尽管以前对数字隐私也很感兴趣和关注，但是以前都没有听说过John Barlow
。于是赶紧补课。John Barlow是数字隐私的先驱者，他在1996年2月写了一份网络空间
的独立宣言（ https://www.eff.org/cyberspace-independence ）。这是一个很激进
的关于数字世界的宣言。在这篇乌托邦宣言中，Barlow宣称数字世界是一个崭新的世界
， 那些旧世界的政府没有权力来干涉这个新世界。这个新世界没有国界，没有种族偏
见，是一个言论自由的世界。Barlow宣称， 旧世界， 包括旧世界里面的集权政体和旧
世界里面的自由世界里面的旧思维， 在这个数字新世界里面都没有位置。
这份宣言跟Timothy C. May的1992年的密码无政府主义者宣言遥相呼应。（后者更大胆
和叛逆，因为后者更有技术保证。）
