我懂一些machine learning, data mining方面的一些常用的model,classification和
cluster方法，也用过一些在工作和学习中。现在想多学习一下machine learning,
data mining的一些基础知识，比如bias-variance tradeoff,相关的一些probability
和random process 方面的知识。
我找了一些材料，比如Vapnik的statistical learning theory,但是感觉他们比较深，
不是fundamental level的。

当然很有用，machine learning在工业界很有用，msft，yahoo这样的opening很多。
如果是CMU的话，还可以考虑MISM，MISM的出路很好，MISM再烂也可以进oracle混吃等

事实上很多做machine learning的人缺乏对所研究问题的insight
而且理论知识又比较贫乏 过于依赖直觉 对很多统计概念的理解支离破碎 没有整体观
牛人当然是有 不过也就是数得上来的那几个 讽刺的是不少还是统计出身 e.g.

是Microsoft的，在great Seattle area. 主要用SAS and SQL, 要求背景是fraud
modeling, risk analysis. 有machine learning 背景更好。要求3-5年相关工作经验
，但实际上并不严格。提供relocation and H1B/GC sponsorship. Hiring manager很
希望尽快找到人，如果背景合适的话，面试什么的应该安排的比较快。我自己就在这个

搞了这么些年生物信息，最后感觉都是别人写好的软件，自己跑一跑pipeline；没啥含
金量。
但貌似现在大部分bioinformatician都是如此，得到的都是处理NGS数据的的经验，对
各类生物数据库的熟悉；而在programming，statistics方面没啥training
最近在看machine learning觉得非常有趣，而且感觉生物信息很多东西本质就是机器学
习。。。PCA, HMM, EM....
所以觉得生物信息转ML是不是比较合适？ |
