postgres更加符合ansi标准，也严格满足acid。
复杂一点的query，postgres也一般会更快。
postgres和的feature set和oracle是最接近的。它的设计就有可以取代oracle的意味
在里面。 |

毕竟mysql是个半商业化的产品
不过现在，被oracle吞了之后，mysql几十年不更新
postgre倒是不停在进化，我觉得取代mysql完全没有问题
没有人喜欢自己做个项目睾丸被捏在oracle这种公司手里吧？
我现在用postgre+cassandra，多数东西交给cassandra
但是必需用transaction这些，就用postgresql
也简单，完全没问题，加上hibernate，嘿嘿 |

就是redhat 这种核心的东西，放到狗一类的大用户，人家自己内部有足够强的内核
developer, 根本用不着你。
Postgres 我不知道， 但是mysql 的公司（black cat 还是什么的） 赚了很多啊。
另外这些公司火不火，50% 是hype, 是VC 和stock market 吹起来的， 你要有
business model, revenue, 但这不是唯一，下一步你必须能吹起来成为火的中心，像
cloud, big data, 什么都是“概念” ------- stock market analyst 懂个屁， 他就
是看周围的人是不是都在追一个新概念。
FreeBSD, Postgres, 甚至mysql , 都是很定型，很1980 的东西， 当然不能成为吹的
poster child |

cassandra 确实算是比较稳定的，但是因为用JVM经常会被人喷，虽然我没遇过什么坑
。现在还有一个copycat scylladb。之前有机会见过他们的高层，感觉兴致勃勃的要彻
底beat casssandra成为下一个mongodb。我现在infra搞的少了，现在帮一个startup
bootstrap他们的产品。基本RDS的postgres （w/ read replica）就搞定。简单易用。
多说两句mongodb。v3以后确实要好很多，但是这是相对v2而言，不是和peer比。
Postgres有很多extension也很好用，虽然sql vs nosql各有利弊，关键还是要看
application的需求。MDB的股票建议大家还是小心点，我看最近daily volume都很弱。
而且它家不赚钱还是有些问题。互联网和软件行业的大部分profit都是做广告，应用（
包括个人和business）以及API的。做infra的monetization都比较困难。比如docker很

导致某次demo我只能在host machine上做。
我以前postgres的一堆extension就崩了，幸好postgres用户众多，花一小时fix了一堆
dependency，当时正有个deadline，还是吓了一跳的。
我不是专门python的马工，平常要用些乱七八糟的（academia没啥人维护）一堆小众软
件，为方便script，常加些python extension而已。没本事不敢托大，先不折腾了。 |

Not as goog as Oracle/DB2/SqlServer, but you cannot beat the price.
Compared to MySQL, if you query is relatively simple, go with MySQL.
I believe MySQL code is somewhat more efficient. If you need to run
joins between serveral big tables, you may have to go with Postgres. |

Why did Oracle spend 10M on InnoDB in 2005? Why did Mysql try to bid with
Oracle and failed later? Why Mysql started falcon and is going nowhere?
I can list top world sites running InnoDB: Google, Wikipedia, Ticketmaster,
almost all startups(facebook, linkin) ...
I once talked with Postgres people and remember their replication under MVCC
totally does not work in 2007. Maybe it is just one version of Postgres :) |
