25 Ways to Talk So Children Will Listen
A major part of discipline is learning how to talk with children. The way
you talk to your child teaches him how to talk to others. Here are some
talking tips we have learned with our children:
1. Connect Before You Direct
Before giving your child directions, squat to your child's eye level and
engage your child in eye-to-eye contact to get his attention. Teach him how
to focus: "Mary, I need your eyes."...

We owe that shadow to the Patriarchy — the masculine societal rule that has

Today I met a chinese-american girl who speak english very good.
She often speaks in L-H* tone. But I don't know when to speak this.
I only speak in chinese way or normal english statement tone.
My question is when to speak a word using L-H* tone.
L-H* tone is a tone which is similar to chinese rising tone.
it is also similar to Y/N question rising tone, but not the same strong
as that.

这个必须要支持一下。
为什么要谈政治?
为什么要关心吃喝拉撒之外的事?
为什么要在乎跟自己无关的人?
哪怕不谈理想
不谈每个人心中的那盏明灯
不谈人的价值
只说最简单最基本的生存

middle school that i went to, there were not that many chineses around,
almost all of my teachers and classmates were non-chinese speakers. The
only time i was able to speak chinese was during my esl class, there were
several ppl there that knew how to speak chinese, so i remember during my
first couple yrs living in the states, all the friends that i made were from
my esl class, :-). I think i mentioned that in one of the... 阅读全帖
