发帖数: 5901 | 1 前几天有人说Avatar不能算科幻，只能算Fantacy。如果说Avatar不算科幻的话，那
Star trek, star wars根本都不敢带个科字。
Star trek不止科学上的漏洞很多，而且剧情也很经不起推敲。
Star trek的几个明显漏洞：
1。电影里的黑洞吞噬星球是毫无科学根据的。
2。Supernova是不会消灭整个星系的。其实只要不是本星系的恒星supernova，行星就
不会被灭。
3。那个drill钻进地心也是很离谱的。地心压力那么大，这个洞根本是没法维持的。为
什么要钻这个洞也是不好解释的。黑洞自己不会在重力下进入地心？
4。最后企业号要被吸进黑洞，kirk他们把自己的warp drive引爆了靠冲击波逃出黑洞
也太离谱了。这个冲击波是不存在的。如果他们被推出去的话，只能是靠光子的辐射压
。这个辐射压如果足以达到把他们推出黑洞的话，那企业号早被烧化了。
5。时间旅行就更不用说了。很少有电影把时间旅行处理的向这里这么草率。其实就是
没有处理。
6。在太空的飞船里面都不是失重的。
7。每次听说太空里的storm我都想笑。我知道有人会辩解说只是像storm，并不是 |

这几天陆续看到了大家在谈论review的事情。我想分享一下自己的体会。
我是college hire的，两年多以前才进入微软的。 我第一年的annual review是刚好新
review方法(1~5)实施的第一年。
我第一年的review得了3，但是因为一些特别的机会，我也得了gold star award。我当
时是想，既然我都有gold star了，而且我自己觉得我ramp up的也挺快的，最后拿个2
应该是差不多的，不过我拿的是3。我后来想 拿3也挺有道理的。 因为在新的review系
统中，是根据what & How来评定一个人的。虽然我觉得我ramp up的比较快，第一年表
现还可以，但是因为我是新人，我自己的ownership并不多，平心而论就what how而言

一些说明和观察,希望有用
1。这是去年的STAR成绩，今年没考STAR
2。我们是外州过来的，我觉得当时主要还是吃老本。虽然Lincoln的老师很好，但孩子
还在调整适应，并不是很入状态。
3。Lincoln的老师确实还不错。第二年的老师很match， 孩子每天都较愉快。
4。种种原因，现在上私立，所以今年没考STAR。是另一个全国（？）考试，还不错（
top percentage)，居然拿到了奖学金。
5。Lincoln作为亚洲新移民子弟学校，学生素质很好。今年孩子的party请了Lincoln的
两学生（一中一印)，很聪明，但both too aggressive，让我吃了一惊。
6。孩子来加州2年，英语口语带了一点口音，原来没有的。 |

qiuyuan就能查到这个workshop. 她已经叫广州一个律师事务所发了律师函给知乎，
不过好像没用，知乎没删帖。
知乎那个帖子里面几个人说自己在MS，看到她工作到晚上9点，而且有时周六还工作，
这种在北美很少见，所以她很努力。却没有一个人能评价她的学术能力。一看就是水军，
北美phd和AP每天工作到晚上9天，周六周日工作的多了去了。而且她的paper确实
奇怪，博士做网络，竟然到了MS做AI的postdoc, postdoc后和竟然导师一起发AI文章。

It seems to me that almost all the schools pick one super star in each area,
and totally pick 4-5 candidates for onsite interview.
I am wondering if you are not super star no. 1 or 2, but no. 3 in your area,
you missed most of the opportunities.
On the side of schools, if they only pick super stars for onsite, will they
end up with no one accepting their offers.

我本来年底打算申请美国学校tenure-track AP，按同实验室过往情况估计，可能拿到
美国rank 30-50左右的offer。
2.美国这边AP的salary差不多10-11w美元，新加坡那边还不确定，但估计在8-9万新元

1.大家觉得新加坡的科研环境怎么样？与美国rank 30-50的学校比明显的缺点是啥？
我本来年底打算申请美国学校tenure-track AP，按同实验室过往情况估计，可能拿到
美国rank 30-50左右的offer。
2.美国这边AP的salary差不多10-11w美元，新加坡那边还不确定，但估计在8-9万新元
