希望他们看好网络，不要让外人偷来作为proxy server来abuse, 当然如果其实不是
proxy server, 相信他们也查的出来

I am a Chinese student studying in US, and in the past week a person
appeared to have used servers within UWisc as proxy to post messages of
insulting, public sexual harassing natures to a very popular Chinese

广义藤校还包括一些专业很nb的名声不是那么响的学校, 譬如cmu的cs, uwisc的统计,
nyu的商数, 还有georgetown or washington U的政治学什么的, 有些只能吹给懂行人
的. 参加老乡会的时候, 他们律师医生出身还有在UN工作的人, 很多时候吹自己的娃的
学校我都听的很茫然的, 除了Upenn的商院能听懂. 这几年好些了, 理工wsn多了, 很多
学校还能提点参考意见. |

要饭的差不多了，比湾区贫困线还低一半，连townhouse都买不起了现在，只能凑合住个

这些退役的球员现在都在中国体育大学读书，然后交换过来的。 也有少数几个到

UMich除Ann Arbor之外的的2个校区
UMN除Twin Cities之外的5个校区
UWisc除Madison Milwaukee之外的11个校区
UTexas的9个校区中的4个
这些都是典型的以teaching为主的学校，但是一样有人能申请funding，有了funding自
然就有postdoc |

减少，tenure的职位肯定越来越少。
公立私立差别不大。虽说州政府立法只影响公立大学，没有tenure制度的公立大学肯定
竞争不过拥有tenure制度的私立大学，招不到搞研究的faculty。
不会一州单独行动，而是全国行动。同上，单独行动的州会导致faculty流失，高等教
育无法与其他州竞争。
没有tenure就需要大幅提高工资做补偿。以CS为例，新毕业生进FLAG的package都是20
万往上，当faculty大概只有10万。能当faculty的都几乎是最好的学生，没tenure谁给
学校半价干活。
即使取消tenure，也是停止新的tenure职位，而不是剥夺已有的。因为tenure是法律性
质的合同，随便剥夺学校会惹官司的。 |

大学的年龄，我说不要试藤，其他更不用想，就呆在家，从网上接受在线教育，在哪儿
还不是学知识？这是不可能的。
因为大学不只是学那些课本。认识校友，参与research，锻炼独立生活，自我监督，在
与人与事的互动中找到自己合适的地位和发展方向。
电子书刚出来的时候，因为便宜的性质，很多人也预言会彻底取代纸质书。是抢了一定
市场，但之后很快就达到一种稳定状态，因为很多诸如教科书之类还是不方便用Kindle
学，很多年纪大的旧式人只会读纸质书。即使我们这一代老了，如果不再在乎买书那点
儿钱，可能也喜欢家里搞个图书馆，毕竟感觉不同。
fire人听起来挺爽，问题是fire了之后呢？还不是要招新人，把有funding的赶走，再
给一笔startup给新人，谁会没事瞎折腾。社会变革没有一两天的。 |

名气，等等，最后的投入产出比还是很不错的。但是了lecturer之类的就是消耗品，唯
一的用处就是可以减少tenure-track professor的教学时间。而且lecturer之类的不做
科研，讲课的时候也根本不能给学生提供最新的知识，其实教学的时候，效果也打折扣。
我们系讨论过招人的问题，最后都倾向于招tenure-track professor，而不是招
lecturer。 |

have some professors doing image processing something, more related to

replace these three with Gatech, UWisc and Marryland.
Umass is really good in networking. But did you hear any good prof in JHU?
PSU, OSU are okay, but don't try ucsb.

Why not UCSB? Is it too good for me? Or do they care about GPA too much.
I am planning on Uwisc and marryland.
How about U_washiond seattle, Umich, UCSD, UCLA?
Any idea on those schools in top 30 who care less about GPA/GRE and
aknowledge papers? |

them were a few chinese students. two of them eventually joined
our group.
to my knowledge, uw has a tradition of recruiting students who have
had grad sch experience in the usa. the two students joined our
group stayed one year in temple u, ma, and ut-arlington, tx,
respectively. they told me in the invitational letter they
received, they were explicitly told that the |

had interviews from caltech and mit and he said he would
probably go to mit, one had interviews from penn st and mit and
he said he would go mit as well, and the last person had
interviews from minnesota, indiana, and wisconsin and he said
he would likely come to wisconsin and he did. it is not unusual
that an applicant gets offer from better schools if he gets
offer from wisconsin.

as a grad student and played another year of QB.
But wasn't the reason he was able to play immediately at UWisc instead of
sitting out a year -because he already got a degree from NCSU?

ACC有点像西甲,就是那两支球队在玩,巴塞皇马(杜克和北卡)轮流坐庄.
B12有点像德甲,只有KU在玩,好似拜仁,年年和欧冠较劲.UTA似乎是多特蒙德,半支欧冠
队.
PAC10有点像意甲,你说他弱吧,球迷基础强大,时不时出现个AC米兰这样的队,独霸欧洲一个
时代,好比UCLA.你说强吧,一下子在欧冠有疲软好几年.
BIG10有点像法甲,OSU,UWISC和UM好像里昂,马赛,巴黎圣日尔曼,这些也是欧冠常客,也
偶尔辉煌一把,现在这些年却总也起不来.对顶尖球员的吸引力有限,不过本土联赛打
得倒很激烈. |
