发帖数: 2283 | 2 I feel it is more likely there will be some iPad 2S or iPad 2+ instead
of iPad 3, since the past pattern shows iPad 3 should use a new
generation SoC, aka A6. However, the design and fabrication of a new A6
will take about one year. I guess A6 will be more integrated and power
saving and maybe use Cortex-A15, which is also used in Qualcomm
Snapdragon MSM8270/MSM8960
On the other hand, since Apple is reported to move to TSMC, Apple might
use the TSMC output to make the next iPad, which may have
1) a cheaper SoC. I guess Apple is negotiating with TSMC for a better
deal . A5 is reported to be 25% more expensive than A4.
2) a combo radio including CDMA or UMTS, or may not. I guess no LTE
since the cost is one of the main concern of Apple.
3) Maybe a smaller screen.
Obviously since there are so many tablets reported to come out, price
war with a lower margin will be one of the challenges faced by Apple.
For example, if you look the radio part of iPad 2. Even though there are
some combo CDMA/UMTS solutions on the market, Apple doesn't use any of
them for saving some R&D troubles. One reason is Apple is very sensitive
to cost.
