SANTA ANA - The driver of a BMW X5 was unharmed after his vehicle caught fire Thursday afternoon on the southbound I-5 freeway just north of the northbound 55 freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.
The BMW burned on the right shoulder of the freeway at about 12:15 p.m., according to reports made to the CHP.
CHP officer Scott Smith said the driver pulled over to the shoulder when he saw that the battery light turned on.
