pitching style will be a factor but since they are all very good pitchers,
I do not believe anyone of them will have a disastrous year.
I still think Yankees will win the division. Last year too many RSOX hitters
had career numbers. The power surge most likely will not stick on. Yes they
added CS. But that is about the only improvement they have made in the
ballclub. Meanwhile Yankees have a better starting lineup this year(ye | p**s 发帖数: 788 | 2 on paper, Brown over Clemens is a huge improvement. But once you consider that
(1) Brown is only 2 year younger than Clemens and injury-prone
(2) Brown pitched in Dodger stadium
(3) Brown pitched in National league
not much upgrade, in my opinion.
The signing of Burks by the redsox can't be ignored. He will get a lot of
at-bats from Nixon or Ortiz when facing a left-handed pitching.
But I do agree with you that Yankees will win the division because some wacky
things will happen to the cursed red

1. Addition of Sheffield;
2. healthy Giambi - no eye infections whatsoever anymore;
3. 2nd year of Matsui so he'd be more familiar with AL pitchers;
4. Kenny Lofton can hit clutch balls;
The uncertain thing is who will be 3B; but if you consider Boone has
poor production last year then can't be worse than that;
And, Soriano had such a bad playoff so hopefully he can only get better.
This Sox lineup replaces Walker with Burks...

| f*r 发帖数: 28 | 4 I would argue that Yanks' bullpen is one of best in the league this year,
with a healthy Karsay, Heredia, Quantrill, Gordon, and Mariano.
Sox pen is on par with Embree, Timlin, Williamson and Foulke...
It'll be another heated division race.

outperformed their expected win-loss percentage by a large margin. In
most case that means the team is actually not as good as its record
indicates. So it's possible if odds are against them this year, they
will get much less impressive record.
On the contrary, Redsox' win-loss is slightly lower than expection.
Granted, Yankees are strengthened this year while Redsox hitter might
not repeat, but I'd say it's a close call.

if not better than Boone. He used to start at SS when Jeter insured,
other backup just can't compare with him, like Almonte.
Also Soriano's D is not much worse than Chucky 4 years ago - excluding last
playoff,
anybody heard the joke about Chucky's throwing ball to the stands?
The loss of Nick Johnson this coming season is really a killer,
he made some very very difficult plays at 1B, also his batting is daunting
to opponent pitchers. T
