Yes, the microscope is called SNOM. The center idea for it is
to fabricate a very small excitation light spot.
The disadvantage for it is that it only works dry in air and is
only good for 2-D imaging.
I spent a lot of time on electronics and DAQ softwares to make it
work. And am looking for some interesting samples to look at.
