Postdoctoral/Predoctoral Research Associate Positions are available in the
laboratory of Dr. Zhen Yan in Department of Physiology and Biophysics, State
University of New York at Buffalo.
Our research goal is to understand the synaptic action of various neuromodulators that are linked to mental health and illness, including dopamine, stress hormones and disease susceptibility genes. Specifically, we try to understand how these neuromodulators regulate glutamatergic and GABAergic transmission in prefrontal cortex, which is
important for emotional and cognitive control. My laboratory has been using
a combination of electrophysiological, biochemical, immunocytochemical,
pharmacological and molecular biological approaches to tackle the unique and
dynamic actions of neuromodulators on the trafficking and function of
glutamate and GABA receptors in normal animals and different disease models.
