outstanding stocks or all assets. If the two companies are of equal size, it
's commonly referred to as Merger.
Takeover means the same thing as acquisition. Most of the time it referres
to unfriendly acquisitions, or "hostile takeovers" (i.e. not supported by
the management of acquiree).
Buyout means a group of people, normally management and bankers, purchases
all publicly traded stocks of a company and take it private. |
