in terms of location: maryland> rochester> UIUC
in terms of research: UIUC > rochester> marlyand
in terms of placement: Rochestr> Maryland> UIUC
in terms of chinese student placmenets: Maryland > UIUC > Rochester
in addition, rochester is on the down trend and maryland is on the up trend.
uiuc is as strong as before...

with established persons, they will be discouted when you are on the job
market. I guess that is the reason why she ended up HK schools... |

its finance phd program, considering two editors for top finance journal.
Yet I think the qualify can be a bit hard for you. Previously, a few Chinese
fin phds were placed in UCLA bschool etc.
This year they're offering a much bigger package than previous to attract
high calibre candidates to come. UMCP is putting its bet on upgrading its
research environment, with even a large bonus in cash for students moving to

发帖数: 18 | 7 UMD only placed one Chinese girl at UCLA. I heard that she speaks very good
English and already had green card at that time. Plus, she was the only one
on the job market that year (for UMD), so probably the whole finance
department was recommending her (at least you got much less competition),
which should not happen on a regular basis.
Then they also placed people to Georgetown and UMN recently. But as someone
said, it is just the best part, not all, of the list. They also placed

about your future research plan, then UIUC is the best target because the
expertise areas there cover in both corporate finance and asset pricing.
There are top-tire b-school in Finance research and many big-names attract
me. Don't put to much focus on placement records. Based on the limited
number of job market candidates, the placement is quiet random. The most
important factor is your own research and recommendation o |

since Rochester has JFE which is more related to corporate finance and
accounting issues, publication for Ph.D student should be easy.One of my
schoolmate is in Rochester and she told me that many of their facuties
involve with corporate finance.
But, as to your private concern with your wife, I think location is much
more important. |

they hired two Russian sisters last year and both are genius... the older
sister is just 22 and the younger one is just 20. they should be very good
potential co-authors if you do corporate finance.
