标 题: 一代移民如何提高英文—哥奋斗数年还是不行

一、背景
兄弟我从小就喜欢学英文，一路TG奔过来成绩都够炫；来美数载，大部分生活都泡在英文世界中：身边朋友美国、中国、国际各占1/3，除了上隔三岔五上买卖提看下打群架，阅读基本英语为主（阅读速度和中文差不多，文学作品也常关顾）。
但是英文水平，主要是表达水平，憋足劲儿苦练了那么多年，始终觉得和college educated母语者有很大差距：
二、问题
1. 不能像母语那样，不需要大脑组织就能流利说出来
a. 短时间还行，长时间就歇菜了
我一般情况下开seminar、上课辩论、面对一堆人讲个话啥的可以唾沫横飞讲个一两个小时，但是时间久了，超过5个小时，明显感觉质量下降，最基本的she/he，第三人称单数，时态等，一团糟——糟糕得想抽自己一耳光；
b. 意志无法集中到语言表达时就说得很烂
我现在的女朋友是个美国人，之前也找过几个欧美的——我感觉，一起生活，对语言要求真是极大考验，我在注意力需要集中到别的地方时，英语几乎不会说。开车的时候，女朋友和我说话，我听还好，但是说出来英文：You, me, we, happy~ 做完爱累得神志模糊，我还得猛拍脑袋唤醒意识来组织句子 —— 恨自己不能像母语那样喝得大醉依旧能字正腔圆乱吼。
2. 表达的质量始终赶不上母语者
我的表达，介于Chinglish和English之间。我说/写英文的时候，基本用英文思考，但是写出来的东西，和我身边写得好的美国朋友一比，就是很不同。意思可以一样，但是用的词和句式，他们的就活多了。
我有查thesaurus，认真修改的写作，大家觉得还可以，但是一般不酝酿表达出来的，就很烂。比如我拷贝一段刚刚和女朋友的text messages对话：
我说：you like me being direct, or sometimes you prefer i talk sth. less explicitly, like using euphemism.
【我现在自己重新看，发现问题不少，比方talk sth.，让我重新慢慢憋，我会写成：When it comes to sensitive issues, do you prefer I bring them up straightforwardly or in a less explicit manner, like using euphemism? 但是当时一急，没时间思考，就说成上面那个样子了】
她说：I want you to be you, and I will adjust to that.
【而我gf，她无论多急，我从来没有发现过她表达中有出现过任何语法错误，说得总是非常漂亮，唉，羡慕啊。】
我说：:) Thank you for being so considerate. The moment your message arrived, Bach's Air on the G string was coming from the speakers, bringing the peaceful ambience to the room along with your words.
【上面这段是我憋了蛮久的，也就写成这水平： message arrived感觉表达一般，bring the ambience，BRING这个动词用的不满意，但是又找不到更好的表达了。】
三. 求教：
各位有母语为中文，但是英文水平自认为/他人认为非常赞的，帮忙指点下：如何提高英文表达水平，解决我上面碰到的难题。感激不尽！
我尝试过的方法：
1. 有半年时间坚持在电视机前模仿新闻节目，播音员说一句，我默记一遍，跟读一遍；但是感觉效果不大，放弃了...
2. 看美剧很多，一集不拉看下来的有friends, boston legal, big bang theory, desperate housewives..看了大部分的有family guy, House等..这个我觉得还比较有效，但是表达大部分看过就忘，自己用不出来。
3. 和母语者朋友去酒吧，开派对啊之类的——夜夜2、3点才回家的日子过了有一个学期，发觉效果其实一般，对付复杂的表达基本没有帮助。
奋斗多年，英文就这半吊子水平，很苦恼，盼诸位温拿指教，谢谢！ | x**c

standard of English fluency. What is the point of killing yourself to be
someone you were not born to be. If people understand you and you undertsand
them you have mastered the language. I had a research on langague
acquization on learners after critical age of 12, it is belived that people
can not reach native speaker level of fluency of a seocnd lanague if they
are not exposed to the second language before the age of 12, so be yourself.

厉害。我的经验就是多听多说。 考license一门口语考试之前发怵试图着language
exhcnage，发现既不省钱也不省时间，找专业english tutor效果更好。GL。 | z*****a

发帖数: 57 | 13 感觉你书面语和口语有点混杂了，其实口语倾向于用词简单，都是用小词表达大意思，
比如灿烂的微笑，you can just say a big smile, instead of a gleaming smile or
a radiant smile, the latter two are more literary. | H*H

fluent in spoken English and have no problem in understanding any movies,
shows, news broad castings, and even most slang. Many people think that I
am an ABC when they first meet me. All this means that I am used to American
culture and I have enough vocabulary to express myself. When it comes to
writing, however, it is a total mess. My friends who are native speakers
always laugh at my "odd writing", which I take great shame.
Fortunately, my writing have improved significantly in the last couple of
years and I would like to share my tips with you.
First, read more English articles of different topics and learn to properly
organize the sentences. Take down new sentences or expressions in a notebook
and go over them constantly. You will be very surprised that even some
native speakers keep such a habit. As they always say, "Writing is a life-
long battle, for words are magic only when they are magically selected and
arranged."
Second, recite some best articles or essays. Many Chinese students improve
their writing by reciting "New Concept English". At first I did not think
about it seriously because I learned it more than ten years ago back in
China, and it did not seem very difficult at that time.
I started to see English differently from the first day I recited "New
Concept English" about a couple of years ago. I learned so much by just
reciting the articles in Book 4: how to arrange and organize sentences, how
to express with style, how to remove the Chinese in my writing and how to
"argue" in English.
I still can not say that my writing is great because, for me, the battle
just started. I am expecting a smile on my face at the end of my days. Will
you join the battle?

reads somewhat studied and rehearsed but not very clear. The problem is you
are trying too hard to impress, and you assume unconsciously the way to
impress is to write /talk like Hemingway . Don't do that. Do it with the
purpose to communicate not to impress. Be simple. Your gf didn't try to
compose.
