his academic career, did what it takes to be a Harvard full Professor, and
there is not much difference between him and any other Harvard full prof
except that he is much younger. To be politically correct, in promotion on
the academic rank, there should be no room for discrimination based on age.
So there he is, a full professor at the age of 31. Based on his research
credential and the years he has been at Harvard, the Harvard PTR committee
sees no reason not to grant him tenure. From the interview with Highly, I
see a wise and humble scholar. He never bragged about himself, or about what
he did or does. Maybe there is nothing to brag about; maybe he does not
like to brag.
Now, we all know that not every professor at Harvard, MIT, or Stanford has
to have a stellar CV. Each institution has its own criteria when it comes to
PTR evaluation. It is common to find a professor of Chinese background in a
state university who has a much stronger CV than someone of non-Chinese
background in the same field who is a professor at HMS.I rarely saw any
complains about that in this forum. Yin got picked on by some people on
mitbbs because he was Chinese. Somehow he is held against a higher standard
than other Harvard professors.
Yin was lucky that no one on the Harvard PTR committee held him against a
higher standard than faculty of other ethnic background.
Why don't we change a topic and discuss why some of the stars here (如胖云李
）have not got any offer from HMS yet， despite their stellar CVs? I believe
it has something to do with their Chinese background.

有31岁的短板，胖云李虎平均年龄四十，有四十的积淀，但在功名上未必立刻能体现出
