Labor Department has changed the minimum annual salary necessary to be
exempt from overtime rules from $23,660 to $47,476. This minimum is set to
begin December 1, 2016. This affects us mainly with regard to postdoc
salaries. If a postoc is making less than the minimum, then you would need
to keep track of hours and pay overtime for any hours worked over 40/week.
This is, as you know, contrary to the very nature of a postdoc and would
likely be not feasible. The only way to avoid this is to increase the salary

offer 工资的miminum 会相应提高到$47476？

NIH已经把最低工资提高到$47476。 但是学校里的博后大部分达不到这个标准。

肯定是满足NIH的最低工资标准的。

发帖数: 470 | 8 还有很多不是NIH资助的项目。比如NSF那点钱根本就没办法资助一个博后。我做博后干
的是NIH的项目，拿的是学校规定的博后最低工资标准，离NIH的差将近一万刀。

发帖数: 2911 | 9 干的是NIH的项目，但是钱不是从NIH来的？或者说问NIH要钱的时候按照NIH的最低
标准，但是给博后发工资的时候按照学校的最低标准？看来黑心PI也是名不虚传，而
且似乎也有苦衷。不过我做博士后的时候，钱是完全从老板的NSF基金里来的，尽管
很低，也有$45000一年。
