The date I was playing was a bit windy. I was told not to tee off from Gold/
Black/Back tee since it would play much longer for the course during windy
day. Turn out it was a wise decision, we settle with Blue tee, and it was
much enjoyable to play.
They have handi recommendation on tee box, and the back tee was for handi
below 5. But you can still play from any tee as you wish, since it was for
recommendation not requirement.
Another thing you need watch out is that if you decide to have caddy, you
need request caddy when you book your tee time. Caddy is not required but
most of people would like to have. Since I was there to watch Tiger during
2010 US Open, I decided not to ask for caddy. But I was told before I tee
off that if i decide to want a caddy on the tee box, no caddy would be
available, you have to reserve ahead.
We didn't pick caddy, rather we got the yardage book at pro-shop. And using
the yardage was ok, but the green was tricky. so caddy might help you on
that regard.
As far as each hole:
No.1 hole, is not tricky, make sure tee off with your most dependable club.
The hole is not long, but when you tee off, there would be a million people
watch you, just be aware that you need handle the pressure well. Once your
first tee jitter is off, you are off for a wonderful time at that magical
place.
No.2 is a short par5, and only Par5 you can take advantage with. My second
shot (approaching) went slightly off, into green side bunker. But if you are
lucky, that is only par5 you could be 2 on for eagle attempt at Pebble. (at
least, that was to me).
No.3 is dog-leg par4, against wind, it plays longer than the yardage said.
just be aware.
No.4 is a straight par4, drivable, I was 10 yards shy of green, bump and run
, but didn't convert the birdie. My buddy got the birdie from 60 yards out.
No.5 is a short par3 from blue tee, nothing special, other than one side was
the ocean, which almost half of the 18 holes were on the beach.
No.6 is a long par5, with second shot would be a blind shot. I was too
aggressive, tried to cut the corner near the ocean and paid ultimate price,
and donated my ball to the pacific, and it would stay in the pacific forever
. Turn out, you can play save and play your second shot to the left, even
use the fairway from No.8 hole.
No.7 is the short par3, 90 something yards. The most beautiful hole on the
course. Maybe the signature hole on Pebble, at least it is the most
photographed hole. Don't take too much club, your ball sail to the ocean if
you try too hard.
No.8, par4, is the hole with a cliff. stay away from the cliff, and plan
your two shots ahead.
No.9 and No.10 are the two loooooooooooong par4s along the ocean, where you
would be mesmerized by the beauty of the course, and the same time you would
get punished if you did not tee your shots well. It was like to chase a
beautiful girl, a beautiful rose with thorns, it is more like a poison ivy.
Dont got distract by her beauty. I was lucky to walk away with 2 pars from
those two par4s, but my buddies were not so lucky, and were buried by those
long long holes.

My wife booked two rounds at Pebble couple of weeks ago as a Valentine's day
gift for me and I cancelled it. Just feel not ready yet and plan to try
after at least three years of play. Hopefully at that time LP will treat me
the same. What a shame. Aff, you made me regret now.

I think now it is winter season. I think they are running some good
promotion. $395 or something. (we paid $499 for green fee with cart, plus
hotel around $1000)
Call to check what is the available tee time you have first.
I guess it is not much fun to play just yourself, grab lao Yu. it is much
more time to share the joy with your buddy.

加上车， 530$. 算是了一个心愿。 你要问我还想不想打，我和我朋友都觉得不想，
200块以下还可以。 500$不值得。
唯一的亮点是我们都 Birdie了那个最有名的第7洞。 呵呵。 | u******m

其实我上次打，因为是PEAK SEASON，$500 (green fee, cart included) + $1000 (
Hotel room fee)
$530 还是便宜了不少。
好在是朋友请客，没觉得不值。
关键是"play at Pebble Beach, priceless ..."
