were fat, messy and had bad teeth. Look through the photos of those times
and you will understand it. But what was the reason for it?
It was not their fault. They had to play the rules imposed on them by the
society. Besides, their mothers and grandmothers had the same lives and that
was an example for them.
We actually won the WWII mostly due to the women who did all the hard work
after their men had gone to the front line.
That time we had more soldiers that Germany and any other country except for
China. This could help us win too.
German women stayed in the rear. They didn’t want to and couldn’t risk
their lives. But Russian women had to. They followed the appeal to replace
their husbands at factories and in the fields. They were capable of doing
man’s job.
Make-up of those time was of a bad quality. Women could only afford buying
face powder, eye shadow and eyeliner.
From time to time there was an opportunity to buy make-up from Poland. It
was found out later that in Poland they did the makeup on the dead.
French brands available later were actually made in Egypt and Syria as per
the license.
Good perfume, beautiful underwear were taken as something luxurious.
Today people with golden teeth can be found in back country only but that
time it was a sign of prosperity.
The first pneumatic dental drilling machine in Moscow appeared in 1975.
Underwear was made in the USSR only and was quite shapeless in form. Good
clothes purchased from socialistic republics were too expensive.
Due to such a hard life it was not easy to stay beautiful for long.
But in spite of all difficulties and hardships they made families, gave
birth to many children, enjoyed their lives and were happy. |
