During the medical exam, doc asked me if I had chicken pox before. If not,
he has to refer me to somewhere else to get vaccined. Can I just say I had
it before although my parents don't remember I had it or not. Does it matter
if I had chicken pox before?

you already have antibody or not. If you have, then you don't need any shot.
