Diamond hill large cap
Dreyfus mild cap index
Dreyfus small cap stock index
Fidelity spartan 500 index fund

2. do stock/bond split according to you age. if you are 30, you can do stock
80~%, bond 20%~.

发帖数: 1519 | 3 See if you can open a brokerage account in your 401k and invest in low cost
index funds/ETFs. Otherwise, the two spartan funds are okay for the equity
positions.
I'd suggest to read some books before investing though. It's hard to
understand why people would invest hard-earned money without the slightest
clue on the market.

I have been trading stocks for many years. I am a TA fan.
Do you use TA at all when you adjust your positions in 401k account?

发帖数: 1519 | 6 The majority of my portfolio actually consists of individual stocks. TA is
certainly one of the useful tools, but I don't rely on it. More often than
not, I found it tricking me into believing in something that isn't really
there. A lot of noise and over-trading don't do any good. Doing due
diligence on the companies' business has been much more rewarding to me.
Anyway, for the index funds I usually leave them alone and don't mess with
them, meaning I buy and hold. However, there are plenty of ideas out there,
supported by back test, that you could use some simple TA to significantly
reduce the draw-down. For one of such examples, google for Mebane Faber. As
you've been trading stocks for years using TA, and hopefully successfully, I
'm sure you have got even better ideas of how to time the trades.
