Job Description
Job Title: Residence Director
Employment Hours: Full-time
Primary Purpose: Responsible for the daily operations of both social
service delivery and the physical plant of Council Towers VI, a residence
for senior citizens funded through the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban
Development’s Section 202 Program.
Essential Duties: Coordinates social programming; cares for residents’
safety, security and well-being. Oversees repairs/improvements to the
facility.
The Residence Director job entails extensive work in overseeing social
services delivered to the residents which shall include educational,
recreational, nutritional and vocational support. The Residence Director
supervises all staff that assist in this service delivery. Ongoing
assessment of tenant social service needs and linkage to community providers
is key to the position. Supervising the intake and assessment of new
residents is also a responsibility of the position.
The position shall carry out the function of maintaining the facility by
assessing repair and improvement needs, contacting contractors for prices,
coordinating the repair by being contact person and making sure repairs are
properly done. Assessing needs prior to breakdown is an important aspect of
the position as is follow-up to make sure projects are satisfactorily
completed. The Residence Director shall supervise maintenance staff and
oversee their work in the building. Additionally, the Residence Director
shall oversee all matters of compliance with regulatory and funding agencies
and all their reporting requirements. The Residence Director will also be
involved in many other functions of the agency which may include fundraising
and other special projects.
Qualifications
No less than five years experience in the management of special needs
housing or delivery of human services in not-for-profit, government or
private sectors. Property management experience with certifications is a
plus. Writing skills and computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheet)
required. A BS or BA degree and HUD Certified Housing Manager is preferred.
Language Skills:
Bi-lingual English and Mandarin Chinese/ Cantonese and/or Korean
