WCRI Overview:
WCRI is recognized worldwide as the leading public policy research
organization on workers’ compensation issues. WCRI conducts and publishes
peer-reviewed studies, benchmarks system performance, analyzes trends and
the impacts of reforms, and examines a wide range of labor economics and
health policy issues. The studies meet high standards of publishable journal
articles, while providing practical, actionable research findings that are
regularly used by public officials and diverse system stakeholders to
improve their systems. However, WCRI does not take positions on issues nor
make recommendations. WCRI maintains a proprietary database with detailed
information on over 30 million episodes of illness and injury. For a subset
of these episodes, it collects patient outcome data via telephone interviews.
Nature and Scope:
WCRI seeks a full time SAS Programmer. An individual in this position will
work with researchers and project managers to provide comprehensive analytic
support across multiple projects. The SAS Programmer will work with large,
complex insurance claim databases from diverse sources and develop/modify/
document programs to support statistical analyses for peer reviewed studies
of healthcare and public policy issues.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
• 5-10 years of SAS programming experience for research projects
• Experience constructing and working with large databases used for
research
• Demonstrated ability to master complex databases
• Strong commitment to quality
• Familiarity with statistical terms and concepts
• Experience working with and contributing to a multi-disciplinary
group of researchers
• Ability to write clear technical memoranda, technical sections of
reports, and program and process documentation
• BA/BS in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Operations
Research or related discipline
• Experience with healthcare and/or insurance data is a plus
• Experience programming in SAS or related languages in a social
science or public policy research environment•
