Stockmayer died last year. He was a National science medal recipient. He won
numerous awards and like to be called Stocky. Flory and he were inspired by each
other but just didn’t follow each other. It’s well known Flory didn’t
tolerate different opinions. Surprisingly they still had a strange friendship.
At the peak of his career, Stockmayer resigned his position from MIT and then
went straight to a teaching position in Dartmouth. How strange! Some years

It says two big guys decided the sequence of the authorship by playing poker
and put it as a note in the paper. The editor found that and asked them to
correct, however, they didn't.
That guy wanted to publish something with his own format, say, with a big
capital alphabit at the beginning sentence of one paragraph, as in novels. He
finally got chance in Polymer Preprints because that one only photocopies your
manuscripts....

Hehe, continue to gossip:
J. M. Deutch was selected as the director of CIA by the congress. However he
was not that lucky either. Only after about 1 year, He was accused endangering
the most confidential secret of the nation by bring CIA's disks back home and
resigned from his position since then. Now he is still at MIT chemistry
probably playing golf everyday. For Wenho Lee, that's a totally different
story.
