training experiences, but not necessary for a surgery-related specialty. It
can also be used as PGY-1 for advanced specialties such as radiology,
ophthalmology, emergency medicine, and anesthesiology.

to apply as a backup. |

发帖数: 52 | 6 As ericusa said, Prelim surg can be used as PGY-1 for many other specialties
. Additionally, I will add Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) and
general surgery in his list.
Prelim surg is relatively easier to get by match. But during the scramble,
it will become very hot as well, and you will have less choice or control.
So if I were you, I would apply earlier.
The disadvantage of prelim surg is that, usually it has very heavy working
load and you don't have time to study Step 3. The worst part is that, you
won't have enough time to prepare for the next year's match (if you do not
secure your 2nd year at the beginning). And even you can get iv offer, you
have to beg other classmates to change shift with you so that you can have
those days off. It's really hard, because many of your colleagues may also
be searching for 2nd year program at that moment.
But it's definitely a countable US clinic experience. And I strongly suggest
you consider about it.

乎没有人选这个,除了有轻微自虐倾向的工作狂.女生有孩子的更要三思.不是什么好的

以申请别的，最多的是麻醉。看见过1个这样的例子 |

volunteer。跟他聊过，感觉很tough的program，而且涉及到政府拨的什么钱，所以第

doctor? If you just want to be a doctor, doesn't matter what kind, or really
interested in surgery. Should go for it. The biggest problem is the P
programs in most NYC or other metropolitan cities are designed for cheap
laborers (they can hire less nurses), you have to do a lot of nurse work and
even 护工 work.
The percentage for switching P to C in same program is low (less than 30%
usually) |

的护士工作， 明年再来

发帖数: 1299 | 16 I did not know you are a nurse. If that is the case, you should go for it,
as P is one of the easiest program to get in if your USMLE score not high
enough.
The advantage for you is that you know how the system work and most nurse
work you can handle. Not sure your preffered final specialty. If IM, most IM
interviews are a couple of hours, can be in the afternoons. If you got a P
in NYC, you will be able to visit a lot of programs.
In PS, just add you need surgery experience or your next destiny need the
one year of P. Surgeons don't read these, and many programs will endup
scramble anyway.
Just make sure got everything done before you start the P, and the only
thing you need is a reference letter from P program director. P is very
physically demanding and time consuming, make sure someone take care of the
kids if you have. |

CK score 99 and already applied IM. I think you have pretty higher chance
for IM.

coniderations, it is not worthwhile for me to get one year paied USCE since
I am alreay a nurse and not really want to do any specialy other than IM.
