h**r 发帖数: 21 | 1 I have been told recently by a director of a program (a friend of someone I
know) who wanted to help me find a training position in his hospital in
order to have letters of recommendation, and by the way, to be sponsored for
a J1 visa. He said, it is from now almost impossible for IMGs to get into a
residency program. What I understood is that, the hospital will not have
any choice but to recruit AMGs (no more IMGs).He said that it is an
unwitting consequence of the OBAMACARE. I know that officially it is said
that the number of students attending medical school in 2010 increased
significantly so that by 2015 the number of AMGs for the first time will be
superior to the IMGs,while the government froze the budget for the residency
program. Unless the government increases consequently the funds for the
hospitals, there is no way an IMG will be recruited instead of an AMG. It is
said that by 2025 it is expected 52 000 physicians in the US whereas they
will be 26 000 by 2015. So our hope would reside in the fact that the
government will in one way or another increase the budget to reach this goal.
But what is not said officially (what I've been told recently), this has
nothing with the number of AMGs, but with OBAMA CARE. Only the hospital well
evaluated by PATIENTS (that is new with Obama care) will be funded. The
hospitals don't want to take any risk with the IMGs. |
