among small children, we urge your company to reconsider your sponsorship
with the Jimmy Kimmel Show and ABC.
The racial killing statement, although presented by a child, is clearly
scripted by the show’s writers. The show was recorded in the afternoon,
hours before it was aired. There is no excuse for ABC trying to shift the
blame to a child.
No matter which side you are on the issue, the fact is that this incident
has created an outrage among Asian communities. By simply being associated
with the show and ABC, it could greatly damage your brand among your
potential customers. As a matter of fact, in the coming weeks, there will be
widespread coordinated boycott of Jimmy Kimmel show and those sponsors
continue to sponsor the show and ABC.
We are not asking you to support us or even agree with us. We respect your
own judgment. However, we are asking you to reconsider where you can best
spend your advertising dollars to bring you most value for your business.

首先，这些公司管PR的人目前还真未必了解这件事情，觉得最好先在开头把事实说一遍

company is sponsoring. 然后把事情说一遍，重要的不是小孩子的话，而是Kimmel的
话，尤其是那句should we allow the Chinese to live? 指出Kimmel对小孩子的引导
，从他后来的话看，他是告诉了孩子们“杀光中国人”是不现实的，但是完全没有指出
，这是genocide，是完全超过现代社会中所有道德底线的。
不要纠结小孩子的话是否scripted。
另外不要说no matter which side you are on the issue和we are not asking you
to support us or even agree with us，因为这样等于承认对方也可以认为抗议是错
误的，不够占领道德之高点。建议先说We know that your company is committed to
racial equality and non-discrimination, and would not knowingly promote hate
speech and genocidal violence一类的话，然后再说这件事情把你们公司的名字和
racism，genocide联系在了一起。
另外最好不要直接用politically correct这个词（虽然当然是这个意思）。最后要求
drop sponsorship of the Jimmy Kimmel Live! show（还有其它advertising venue这
种话不用说了）

这个是写给确实在Jimmy Kimmel秀上有广告的公司的，如果是给在ABC其它节目有广告
的公司，请把Jimmy Kimmel Live! show改成ABC，“sponsorship of”改成“

hate speech on the ABC Network's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a show of which [
COMPANY] is an sponsor. During an episode of this show aired on October 16,
Mr. Kimmel discussed the U. S. debt issue with a group of small children.
When a child suggested "killing everyone in China" as a solution toward this
issue, Mr. Kimmel reacted by commenting that it was an "interesting idea".
During the same segment, Mr. Kimmel asked the children "Should we allow the
Chinese to live?" (to which another child replied "no"), a question that
could
have only been based upon the assumption that people of Chinese ethnicity
have no right to their own lives, and that others have the right to kill or
not kill them as they decide. Later, Mr. Kimmel suggested to the children
that to "kill everyone in China" is perhaps impractical, but nowhere during
the show did he ever point out, or even hint to these children or to the
audience, that this idea, namely that of genocide, is profoundly racist and
morally abhorrent to all modern civilized societies.
By its decision to broadcast this previously-taped segment, the ABC Network
has given the message that genocide against an entire ethnic group is
morally acceptable. As U. S. Representative Mike Honda (CA) wrote, "these
statements, left unchecked, promote intolerance". Rep. Honda is far from the
only Asian American leader to condemn these words aired on the Jimmy Kimmel
Live! show. The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) has
issued a statement regarding the incident, and the wider Asian American
community's reaction has been one of strong outrage. A petition on the White
House website, asking the FCC to investigate the show, has already gathered
nearly 100,000 signatures in less than two weeks. [CHANGE THIS DEPENDING ON
FUTURE CHANGES] Protest rallies, attended by prominent community leaders,
have been organized in many U. S. cities. A boycott of the ABC network, and
of its associated companies, has been called for. The Asian American
community is determined to make its voice heard: there must be no tolerance
for hate speech, especially on a national television network, and for those
who support such speech.
I believe that [COMPANY] is strongly committed to its social responsibility
of promoting racial tolerance and equality. However, as an advertiser on the

我给你解释一下我这封信的构思。这封信是给这些sponsor的PR部门看的，不是给受害
的中国人社区看的。我的模板完全是从PR部门利益出发：PR不见得care中国人的感情和
社会的道德底线，有些人还可能幸灾乐祸，但是人家肯定care钱和用钱买好的image，
以及中国人民的钱包。我是从拉拢这些PR人员的角度出发的，不是要把他们也打倒。在
公司里面混过的老油条都应该知道这个。公司里面广告的budget本来流动性就很大，哪
里效果好就往哪里投，和事件具体细节，社会道德，中国人民的感情，美国人民的骄傲
，半毛钱关系都没有。
模板这个东西没有标准答案，大家可以在此基础上自由发挥，写出更好的东西。本人才
疏学浅，还要照顾老婆孩子做家务踢球高尔夫打枪，大家就凑活看吧。

，这些大公司corporate social responsibility这种场面话在表面上还是挂着的。所
以个人这篇主要还是从事情严重性的角度出发，并不是让对方自己认为事情是严重的，
而是说有很多人（包括有影响力的人）认为它是严重的，会闹大并且有可能给公司带来
负面影响。（当然，给这些赞助商写信的具体效果将会如何，这很难说，不过还是需要
尝试）

Boycott abc， fire Jimmy Kimmel 在本质上是一种命令。假使你是一个白人／墨西哥
人／黑人，没有看过Jimmy Kimmel 的辱华节目，有着和CNN， Fox 一样的对中国的负
面价值观（人权，西藏，维吾尔，贩卖人口，器官交易）。你觉得他／她会care 吗？
世界上所有成功的民权主义者都是以将心比心方式和非暴力的方式达到目的的，比如曼
德拉，甘地，当然还有阴险的达赖。只有爱才能够唤起爱和同情。
同时也希望以成功的华人牵头成立一个大中华人权基金会（中国大陆，台湾，香港，新
加坡）。基金会接受普通工薪华人捐款。基金会的钱可以用在以下方面：
1. 在政界培养代理人。
2. 捐钱成立或支助智库（think tank）做研究，把舆论向有利于华人的方向引导。
3. 在出现辱华／针对华人的仇恨事件时，一定用法律手段打赢官司。这个只有基金会
才有财力办得到。陈国仁在1982年被美国白人用棒球棒活活打死，凶手交了2万保释，
至今逍遥法外。
