Two people were shot on Tuesday evening in the Belmont Central neighborhood,
bringing Chicago’s gun violence toll to 1,000 victims this year, the
Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.
The gruesome milestone came on the 115th day of 2017, putting the city at an
average of nearly nine people shot per day, according to Sun-Times data.
The bloodiest day came on New Year’s Day, when 27 people were shot.
At least 174 of the victims died. It took only 56 days for the city to tally
