the UO AD's office. The last sentence had been removed from final edit.
"I can't confirm or deny that. Because that wasn't something I was aware of."
Multiple sources close to the Oregon football program tell DuckTerritory.com
that Assistant Director of Football Operations Josh Gibson believed to be
no longer working in the football office. It is unclear if Gibson has been
fired, if he resigned or if he has been reassigned.
Multiple messages left on Gibson’s cell phone have not been returned.
When contacted by phone Wednesday afternoon by DuckTerritory’s Matt Prehm,
Oregon spokesman Dave Williford said. "I can't confirm or deny that. Because
that wasn't something I was aware of."
Gibson was named in a Yahoo! Sports report on July 2nd that detailed his
alleged interactions involving Will Lyles and his Complete Scouting Service.
Oregon's purchase of CSS's National Recruiting package for $25,000 has come
under an NCAA scrutiny.
Lyles told Yahoo! Sports in a report last week that Gibson had direct
knowledge of and helped Lyles petition to have freshman running back Lache
Seastrunk's grandmother sign off on the recruit’s National Letter of Intent
after concerns Seastrunk's mother would refuse to sign off on his decision
to attend Oregon.
Seastrunk’s request was approved by the NCAA and he and his grandmother
signed his National Letter of Intent in February 2010.
Lyles also said that Gibson and head coach Chip Kelly both approved of his $
25,000 national package fee. |
