and a lot of people in both our fan bases don't get it.
i won't get into florida (although a lot of people here don't understand
florida's issues either) because this is a tennessee board. so, this post
will be about tennessee's problems.
but, i'm about to bring unfiltered truth in this post. so, if you can't
handle it, i apologize. but, some of you (although i believe most of you get
it) need to be smacked in the face with reality. keep in mind that what i
am about to post is with regard to 2011 only. some players may improve over
time, but i'm talking about the right here and now.
tennessee has nothing. absolutely nothing. nothing they can hang their hat
on.
what they had was a very good qb and a great wr. those two guys could make
the offense look somewhat competent and make some of the other guys on the
field look better (like da'rick rogers, who i'm sorry isn't as good as
anyone here would like to believe). with those two guys hurt, tennessee has
nothing.
the offensive line isn't good. so, you can't play power football. any
competent defense that wants to stop the run, can stop the run whenever they
want to.
the qb play is terrible with bray injured, so no one has to honor the pass
making the running game that much harder to establish.
the defense is doing the best they can with what they've got. but, right now
, they don't have anything. they can't force turnovers. they don't have a
shutdown corner or playmaking safety. they don't have linebackers who make
plays. the defensive line isn't any good either.
so, in a game like yesterday, where both teams are somewhat neutered, it
came down to what games traditionally come down to......the line of
scrimmage. south carolina is better up front. south carolina won. it's that
simple. but, everyone is expecting some sort of miracle. you expected a true
freshman qb who never threw a pass to beat a ranked opponent with no
running game to help him out.
i understand it's not fun losing games to teams that aren't very good. i'm
in that boat with you the last couple of seasons. it's not fun.
but, the reality is florida and tennessee are both weak on the line of
scrimmage. both are weaker on the offensive line than the defensive line. if
you throw in other problems that exist on the team (lack of a power running
back, lack of a playmaking wr, lack of a good qb, etc, etc, etc), you are
going to have a bad offense. you are going to put your defense in bad
positions. you are going to have a hard time forcing the other team into
mistakes because the other team doesn't have to change it's gameplan or take
any unnecessary risks because you aren't capable of getting them out of
their comfort zone.
if you want to know how bad derek dooley has got it, bear in mind that
florida owned tennessee on the line of scrimmage and florida hasn't been
able to run the ball against anyone not named kentucky since.
the main thing to be concerned about is whether or not more time will help
the situation or if tennessee needs different players. i believe they are
going to need different players at a number of position and then it will
take time, because you don't win with 18 year olds.
but, with the current roster and injuries, tennessee doesn't have one area (
against a pretty good football team) that they can attack and exploit. they
don't have one matchup advantage. not one.
so, cut dooley some slack and hope that the talent they are bringing in can
begin to solve some of these problems. the good news is that (when healthy)
at least you have a qb and a great wr to work with next season. | x*******1 发帖数: 28835 | 2 我们的回信
bye bye troll...we will be in the same boat with you when we start winning
SEC games...other than that go away, you have won 2 national titles in a 5
year period...if we were in that boat then our fans could take a 5-7 season
and be fine with it...we have stunk for a decade now...leave your boat at
the dock, we will take...then jump off and drown yourself |
