New Jersey woman falls to her death in hiking accident
.GARDINER – A 22-year-old New Jersey woman died when she fell 20 feet off a
cliff while hiking on Mohonk Mountain on Sunday afternoon, State Police
said.
The woman, identified as Stephanie Prezant of Hayworth, NJ, was rock
climbing with three friends at 1:45 p.m. when she ascended a cliff and on
her way back down, she slipped and fell, State Police BCI Capt. Joseph
Tripodo said Monday.
She was not wearing a helmet.
The victim was rushed to St. Francis Hospital where she died, he said. | S********g
发帖数: 922 | 2 It was surprising to me since a few friends and I were at Gunks/Trapps on
Sunday until 7PM -ish. I did not notice sirens or anything during the day.
According to discussions on RC.com, gunks.com, they were top roping at the
very beginning of the cliff band. Position of the accident might explains
why I had no idea of it. Usually noone really climbs there unless it's
beginners messing around with some stuff.
According to online discussions, they set up a TR anchor on a tree, and the
rigging failed. You have to guess that they screwed up the knot or something
. Beginner mistake of some sort. Sigh, I thought beginners should know who
they are, and should try not to put other people in danger.

条10-的线的第三节时候也是掉了20英尺，直接砸到小平台来。摔断了几个肋骨，头受
伤。还好带到头盔，头盔都摔裂了，不然死定了。结果被直升机吊走路。 | w***y

发帖数: 922 | 5 Initially I thought it could be "hike down". There are a bunch of climbs
around Uber Fall vaguely from Ken's Crack to P38 that we usually down climb a low 5th class. A slip there won't be pretty.
