In order to promote the Chinese language and culture and make our kids proud
of being able to speak Chinese, a few of our families in SBISD have gotten
together to initiate a Mandarin Chinese Immersion Program in Spring Branch
ISD.
First of all, we need to collect a basic survey to see how many families are
interested and supportive of this idea. If this is the first time you have
heard about this program, please read about other programs like this that
are already in place in Houston ISD: http://www.houstonisd.org/Domain/1874.
Our goal is to get SBISD to sponsor and provide transportation, a facility,
and instructors as they do for the Gifted and Talented program. A few days a
week, and either during or after school, the students in the program will
go to a central campus to have normal class - but taught in Chinese. As a
result, you won't have to spend your weekend or weeknights going to a
separate Chinese school.
We need you to please spend a couple of minutes to send us some feedback and
your preferred choice for time, and to help us know the scale of the
program before we meet with SBISD to negotiate. You're welcome to share the
survey link to as many as families that you know in SBISD:

发帖数: 1437 | 3 HISD has a diverse pool of families in terms of incomes, etc. and has just a
Handful of good public schools and that is why magnet schools are top
choices for
many people in HISD. On the other hand, SBISD's families are normally middle
upper class with decent income, and public schools in SBISD are generally
all good; that is why people are paying premium for houses in Memorial. I
do not think a stand alone Chinese magnet school in SBISD would attract most
people. However, there are many Asian families moving into Memorial, and
Chinese classes or cultural immersion programs within those top SBISD
schools (frost wood, willchester, memorial middle, memorial high) will
certainly attract
many.

我走了芝加哥非常多非常多的学校，只有一个学校有 Chinese Immersion
老师的压力也非常大（不过今年是第二第三年了，好多了，目前还在谈围棋进她的课堂）
